DIGITAL LITERARY ANNOTATION NEWSLETTER NO. 11 (AUGUST 2017)
TEASYS – NEWS
In the context of the Annotating Literature Project, one of the
graduate students is currently conducting research on the influence of
explanatory annotations on the perception and reading of a literary
work. For this purpose, the Master thesis, titled/ Explanatory
Annotations and Changing Modes of Reading/, reviews the annotations of
11 different editions of Mary Shelley’s famous novel /Frankenstein, or
the Modern Prometheus /(1818/31). Further, the thesis explores the
transformation of the annotations from the print to the digital medium
with particular regard to the additional value of social digital
editions.
-------------------------
The Annotated Web Edition Directory is looking forward to your
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on
our webpage[1]. We thank you for your help.
