In the context of the Annotating Literature Project, one of the graduate students is currently conducting research on the influence of explanatory annotations on the perception and reading of a literary work. For this purpose, the Master thesis, titled<em> Explanatory Annotations and Changing Modes of Reading</em>, reviews the annotations of 11 different editions of Mary Shelley’s famous novel <em>Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus </em>(1818/31). Further, the thesis explores the transformation of the annotations from the print to the digital medium with particular regard to the additional value of social digital editions.<br>
