TEASYS – NEWS
Next semester, Angelika Zirker (Humboldt-Universität Berlin) as well
as Matthias Bauer and Miriam Lahrsow (both Universität Tübingen) will
offer a seminar on “Digital Methods in Literary Studies” at their
respective universities. Furthermore, Leonie Kirchhoff (Universität
Tübingen) will offer a seminar on “Learning to Read Shakespeare” in
the course of which students will collaboratively annotate key scenes
of three Shakespeare plays (/Macbeth/, /Romeo and Juliet/, /The Merry
Wives of Windsor/).
On February 15, Leonie Kirchhoff and Miriam Lahrsow have given a talk
on “Erklärende Annotationen und Textverständnis im digitalen Medium“
at the graduate conference /Verstehen verstehen/[1] in Stuttgart,
Germany.

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[2] is looking forward to your
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on
our webpage. We thank you for your help.

CALLS FOR PAPERS/ UPCOMING EVENTS
The Shared Task on the Analysis of Narrative Levels Through
Annotation[3] (SANTA) is open to everyone interested in the
/collaborative creation of annotation guidelines./
Abstracts are due FEBRUARY 28 for the conference Textual Heritage and
Information Technologies - El’Manuscript 2018[4] (14-18 September
2018, Vienna and Krems, Austria).
Proposals are due MARCH 2 for this year's National Communication
Association convention[5] under the theme of "Communication at Play"
(Salt Lake City, November 8 - 11).
HELDIG[6] is organizing the Digital Humanities in the Nordic
Countries (DHN) conference in 7-9 MARCH 2018 in Helsinki, Finland.
The registration[7] for the conference is now open and the preliminary
programme[8] of the DHN conference is available.
Submissions are due MARCH 11 for the International Symposium on the
Future of Education in Information Science[9] (Pisa, 10-11 September
2018).
Submissions are due MARCH 12 for PMLA's Varieties of Digital Humanities[10].
Proposals are due in MARCH for Teaching Digital Cultures: Objects,
Boundaries, and Techniques[11], an online article collection edited
by Dr. Matt Hayler (Palgrave Communications).
The first meeting of the Research Data Alliance Community Germany[12]
will take place on 19 MARCH at the TU Berlin.
Registration[13] is now open for a TEI workshop offered by the Women
Writers Project and the Digital Scholarship Group at the Northeastern
University Library (April 4 - 6). The workshop offers an Introduction
to TEI Encoding and Schema Design. The deadline for registration is
MARCH 30.
Registration[14] is now open for the 11th RDA Plenary Meeting (21-23
MARCH, Berlin, Germany).
Proposals are due MARCH 31 for the 5th Annual Digital Pedagogy
Institute Conference[15] (Brock University, Ontario, Canada, August 9
- 10).
Registration[16] for the workshop on “Archivierung und Zugang zu
qualitativen Daten“ (27-28 April, Bremen, Germany) is possible until
MARCH 31.
Registration[17] is now open for the conference “Forschungsdesign 4.0
– Datengenerierung und Wissenstransfer in interdisziplinärer
Perspektive” (19-21 April, Dresden, Germany).
Registration[18] is now open for the workshop on “Measuring Change in
Digital Humanities: Workshop on Impact Factors and Success Criteria”
(21-22 June, Berlin).
Balisage: The Markup Conference 2018[19] will take place from JULY 31
- 3, 2018 in Rockville, MD, Washington, DC). Check here for more
details on the Call for Participation[20].
The Perseus Digital Library at Tufts University invites
applications[21] to “Digital Editions, Digital Corpora, and new
Possibilities for the Humanities in the Academy and Beyond[22]” a
two-week NEH Institute for Advanced Technology in the Digital
Humanities (JULY 16-27, 2018).
The Digital Pedagogy Lab 2018[23], will take place in Fredericksburg,
VA from JULY 30 – AUGUST 3. Registration[24] is now open! For the full

Textual Heritage and Information Technologies[25] will take place in
Vienna and Krems, Austria from SEPTEMBER 14-18, 2018.
The annual TEI Conference and Members’ Meeting[26] will be held at the
University of Tokyo, Japan from SEPTEMBER 9 – 13, 2018. This year’s
theme of JADH is ‘Leveraging Open Data’.

The 9. Europäische Sommeruniversität in Digitalen
Geisteswissenschaften[27], "Kulturen & Technologien", will take place
from 17.-27. JULI 2018 at the Universität Leipzig, Germany.

The Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften is searching
for a research fellow[28] with experience in programming. The deadline
is 5 MARCH.
The Aga Khan University (London) is searching for a technical lead /
solutions architect[29]. The deadline is 7 MARCH.
The Institut für Deutsche Sprache (Mannheim, Germany) is searching for
a research fellow[30] specialising in the field of oral corpora. The
