Postdoc Position in Interactive High Dimensional Data Visualization
Tufts University, Medford, MA

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in visualizations
of high dimensional data. The postdoc position is funded by the Merck
Exploratory Science Center in Cambridge, MA with the goal of developing
visualizations and interaction techniques to allow biology researchers to
facilitate target discovery and elucidate mechanism of action derived from
high dimensional single cell data (e.g. sequencing, flow cytometry, and
proteomics). The postdoc hired for this position will work within Tufts
university, but will collaborate closely with researchers at Merck.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in using and
understanding of dimension reduction (projection) methods, developing
web-based visualizations that communicate with back-end (server-side)
computation processes, and experience with using deep learning models for
visualization. Knowledge about biological data is a plus but not required.

The position is open now, but the start date can be negotiable. The postdoc
position is expected to be 2 years (subject to renewal after the first
year).

Note that there is no citizenship requirement for this position. Candidates
outside of the US are encouraged to apply.

Tufts University is located in the Boston area -- it is two stops away on
the subway to Harvard and two additional stops away from MIT. Boston is
quickly becoming a hub for visualization research including but not limited
to research activities at Tufts, Harvard, MIT, Google, Northeastern, WPI,
Brown, UMass, UMass Dartmouth, Boston College, Smith, and New Hampshire. In
addition, the greater Boston area (Boston/Cambridge) has over 1000 biotech
companies and is quickly becoming the center of the nation’s biotechnology
industry. The postdoc researcher is encouraged to take advantage of the
Boston area by collaborating and building relationships with these nearby
universities.

Interested applicants should send an email to Remco Chang (
remco at cs.tufts.edu) that includes a CV and an optional research statement.
