The Computer Science Department of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position  at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science to begin on or after July 1, 2015. We seek applications from candidates in the area of “Big Data for Health-Information Technology”. We are seeking exceptional candidates with a strong research record in any of the following areas: databases, knowledge discovery or data mining, information visualization, data analysis, sensor networks, or machine learning. A track record of collaborating with investigators in the health sciences is helpful.

This tenure-track position is targeted to support the interdisciplinary and collaborative research mission of the Carolina Health Informatics Program (http://chip.unc.edu <http://chip.unc.edu/>). Thus, while the home department for this position will be computer science, appointees will be expected to participate in research collaborations spanning a range of disciplines, with researchers from the Schools of Medicine, Information and Library Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dentistry, as part of a campus-wide health informatics initiative.

Applicants are expected to have a Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
