Opening of Research Fellow Position in Real-time Interactive Character Animation



Job Description:

The Institute for Media Innovation (IMI http://imi.ntu.edu.sg/) at Nanyang Technological University immediately invites applications for a post-doc position to work in our leading research new media Institute (IMI) in Singapore, in the area of real-time interactive character animation for virtual characters and social robots.  Researchers will have an opportunity to work in a cutting-edge interactive environment with top equipment as a new immersive room, real-time motion capture and several social robots and will be part of a multi-national research project in the BeingThere center.



Eligibility:

The position requires a PhD in the area of 3D character animation in particular for interactive and conversational virtual characters. The applicant must have an experience in the above mentioned area as evidenced by publications in high level international journals and conferences. He/she should have expertise in one or more of the following topics and knowledge of fundamental computer graphics topics (e.g. rendering, image manipulation, geometric modelling):



§  Expressive face and body animation

§  Multi-modal behaviour generation and synchronization

§  Automated non-verbal behaviour generation

§  Data-driven character animation



Strong capacity, commitment to research and good communication skills are expected. High expertise in C++ is required, as well as proficiency in Python or other scripting language. Experience developing software in team using source code management (e.g. git) is a plus.



Salaries are competitive and are determined according to the successful applicants' accomplishments, experience and qualifications. Singapore has low income tax and a postdoc is likely to pay a variable income tax of a maximum of 15% (see http://www.iras.gov.sg/irasHome/page04.aspx?id=1190).
