Dear Colleagues:
As AI systems become increasingly embedded in real-world decision-making, governance, provenance, and accountability are becoming central unsolved challenges that demand new computational and visual approaches.
The IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications (CG&A) is now inviting submissions to a Special Issue on AI Governance, Authenticity, and Provenance for Visual Media (https://www.computer.org/digital-library/magazines/cg/cfp-ai-governance-authenticity-provenance).
Generative models are transforming how images, video, and 3D content are created and distributed. At the same time, they introduce urgent challenges around trust, verification, and accountability. This special issue frames these challenges as core problems in graphics, visualization, and visual analytics, calling for technical contributions that address how visual media is created, tracked, interpreted, and trusted in real-world workflows.
This special issue is guest edited by

🔸 Submission deadline: September 30, 2026
🔸 Publication: March 2027
We welcome contributions spanning:
🔸 Provenance tracking and verification pipelines for visual media
🔸 Watermarking, fingerprinting, and visual forensics
🔸 Interactive visualization and human-in-the-loop systems for authenticity assessment
🔸 Governance tools for transparency, auditing, and accountability
🔸 Interfaces for disclosure, labeling, and trust communication
If your work sits at the intersection of graphics, visualization, AI, and real-world media systems, this is an opportunity to shape how trust in visual content is established and maintained at scale.
We also encourage Perspective and Overview Papers that synthesize emerging directions and define the future of this space.
If this topic resonates with your work, please consider submitting or sharing with colleagues who may be interested.
