[Ieee_vis] IEEE VGTC Visualization Awards call for nominations, due May 31 2026

The IEEE VGTC Visualization Awards program recognizes and honors
individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community
through their research and/or service. Please nominate individuals that
enable us to recognize both the diversity of individuals and the diversity
of contributions from the community at large. There are six categories of
VGTC Visualization Awards.
*VGTC Visualization Dissertation Award:* recognizes outstanding academic
research and development in the field. Eligibility: within 2 calendar years
of defending.
*VGTC Visualization Significant New Researcher Award:* recognizes an
individual who has made significant recent research contributions in the
field. Eligibility: most recent degree within 7 years.
*VGTC Visualization Technical Achievement Award:* recognizes an individual
for a seminal technical achievement and/or significant contribution in the
field.
*VGTC Visualization Lifetime Achievement Award:* given to an individual to
honor that person’s lifetime contribution to the field.
*VGTC Visualization Service Award:* recognizes extraordinary service to the
community through the IEEE VGTC and/or the IEEE VGTC Sponsored Conferences
and Symposia.
*VGTC Visualization Academy:* induction into the Academy recognizes the
accomplishments of the leaders in the field.

Nominations are due by May 31, 2026.
New in 2026: a single nomination can be routed to all three of the senior
awards: Lifetime, Technical, and Academy.
Nominations should provide a rationale that carefully addresses the
criteria specified at the above URL that does not exceed 600 words, and
also a one-sentence summary, for most of the awards. For the Dissertation
Award, nominations should provide
-
title and abstract of the dissertation,
-
name of the candidate,
-
name of the candidate’s primary advisor,
-
institution where the dissertation was defended,
-
date of the dissertation defense,
-
a 1-2 page summary of the significance and impact of the dissertation
research,
-
an electronic copy of the full dissertation, or a pointer to where it
can be obtained,
-
one letter of recommendation, up to 2 pages in length, ideally from the
candidate’s primary advisor,
-
a list of publications, awards, and other recognition by peers produced
from the dissertation work.
