Explore how visualization is driving discovery in the life sciences.

[image: image.jpeg] <https://vizbi.org/2026>We thought you’d be interested
in joining VIZBI 2026 <https://vizbi.org/2026> — the 16th International
Meeting on Visualizing Biological Data — taking place 14–17 April in
Cambridge, UK, and online on 21 and 23 April.

VIZBI focuses on how advanced visualization approaches are applied to
address the growing size and complexity of biological data—creating
opportunities to contribute to scientific discovery and interdisciplinary
collaboration. Here’s how you can benefit by taking part:

   -

Engage with an influential, interdisciplinary community. At VIZBI,
you’ll interact closely with life scientists, computational biologists, and
visual creatives — including keynote speakers Fernanda Viégas
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/People#Fernanda_Viegas> and Martin Wattenberg
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/People#Martin_Wattenberg> (Google & Harvard,
   USA), Jan Willem Tulp <https://vizbi.org/2026/People#Jan_Willem_Tulp>
   (Netherlands), and Maja Divjak
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/People#Maja_Divjak> (Peter Mac, Australia).
   -

Apply your expertise to real-world challenges. The DataVis Masterclass
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Masterclass> (14 April in-person
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Program#Tue-14> & 21 April online
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Program#Tue-21>) provides an opportunity to
explore complex biological datasets alongside peers and domain experts,
   including Martin Krzywinski
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Masterclass#Martin_Krzywinski> (BCGSC, Canada)
   and Brady Johnston <https://vizbi.org/2026/Masterclass#Brady_Johnston>
   (UWA, Australia).
   -

Collaborate and share your work. At the Workshop (15–17 April in-person
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Program#Wed-15> & 23 April online
<https://vizbi.org/2026/Program#Thu-23>), you can contribute a scientific
   poster <https://www.vizbi.org/Posters/2025> or scientifically-inspired
artwork <https://vizbi.org/art>. You can also present a lightning talk
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/posters#lightning>, a tech-track talk
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Sponsors#tech-track>, or lead an ‘unconference
   <https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4310607/>’ breakout.
   -

Get inspired by new application domains. The evening Showcase
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Showcase> event on 17 April features world-class
   animator Maja Divjak <https://vizbi.org/2026/Showcase#Maja_Divjak> and
   renowned filmmaker Martin Dohrn
   <https://vizbi.org/2026/Showcase#Martin_Dohrn>, highlighting visual
storytelling across scales—from cellular processes to collective animal
   behaviour.
   -

Publish interdisciplinary work. As a participant, you can submit work
from the meeting to the VIZBI 2026 Proceedings
   <https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/78548/16th-international-meeting-on-visualizing-biological-data-vizbi-2026>,
published in the Data Visualization section
   <https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/bioinformatics/sections/data-visualization>
   of Frontiers in Bioinformatics
   <https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/bioinformatics>—a venue for
interdisciplinary advances bridging visualization and the life sciences.
   Submissions close 8 September 2026.

Register by Friday, 20 March, to secure a 15% discount, which can be
combined with additional discounts for eligible members. Registration also
includes access to a large collection of videos from previous VIZBI
meetings.

We hope to see you at VIZBI 2026!
