Please note that, due to many requests, the paper deadline for WVIS 2017 has been extended to August 20.

==============================
Call for Papers - WVIS 2017, 7th Workshop on Visual Analytics, Information Visualization, and Scientific Visualization
==============================

We are happy to invite everyone to submit original research to the 7th Workshop on Visual Analytics, Information Visualization, and Scientific Visualization. WVIS 2017 (http://wvis2017.cin.ufpe.br/) will be held as part of SIBGRAPI 2017 in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 17-20, 2017.

Motivated by the increasing popularity and importance of visualization techniques, WVIS reaches its 7th edition, bringing a forum to discuss recent advances in information and scientific visualization, as well as visual analytics. WVIS is a forum for the dissemination of current work in the field of data visualization, and has the goal of fostering new research and collaborations.

We invite contributions in all areas of data visualization. A list of suggested topics for papers includes, but is not limited to:

- Visual representations and interaction techniques
- Time-series visualization, streaming data visualization, time-varying data analysis, spatio-temporal visualization
- High-dimensional data and dimensionality reduction
- Mathematical foundations and algorithms for data transformations to allow visual analysis
- Layout arrangement: graph drawing, overlap removal methods
- Big data visualization: urban data, environmental data
- Visualization, rendering, and manipulation of spatial data: scalar, vector, and tensor fields
- Applications in the area of machine learning, pattern recognition, and image processing

Important Dates
====================

- Paper submission (extended): August 20, 2017
- Notification of acceptance: September 1, 2017
- Camera-ready version due: September 8, 2017

Submission guidelines
====================

All papers must be written in English and formatted according to the SIBGRAPI IEEE format (http://sibgrapi2017.ic.uff.br/call-mt.html). The papers should be submitted through the CMT system (https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/WVIS2017). We welcome short papers of 4-5 pages with the 5th page containing only references.

All papers will be coordinated by the chairs of WVIS 2017 and reviewed by the program committee in a double-blind process. Accepted papers will appear in the SIBGRAPI's proceedings (authors can opt for not having the manuscript published).

The authors of accepted papers will have to present their work in a poster session (about 1 hour). Selected papers will be invited for oral presentation. Instructions for the poster format will be given upon the notification of acceptance.

Program
====================

The workshop will be comprised of short paper and poster presentation sessions to promote discussions with the authors and a plenary talk by Claudio Silva from New York University.

Organizers
====================

- Nivan Ferreira, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco
- Luis Gustavo Nonato, Universidade de São Paulo
- Filip Sadlo, Heidelberg University
