We have received a few requests to extend the deadline and so have decided
to extend it for all.

IEEE VIS Workshop on the Pedagogy of Data Visualization

The goal of this workshop is to create and sustain a community of educators
interested in the pedagogy of data visualization. The workshop will be the
beginning of a community of practice where participants will discuss their
interests, challenges faced, and novel approaches that they have
incorporated into their respective classrooms.

Important Dates

Deadline for submission: Jul 25, 2016 (Extended to July 31st)
Notification of acceptance: Aug 15, 2016
Camera-ready papers due: Aug 31, 2016

All deadlines are at 11:59pm PDT.

Topics

The workshop welcomes 2 to 4 page abstracts on a variety of topics,
including, but not limited to the following:

- Pedagogical strategies and curricular development related to data
visualization
- Model assignments highlighting innovative, ready-to-adopt materials
- Software that assists the teaching/learning process and how it was used
in the classroom
- Resources and strategies for teaching specific datavis sub-areas or
topics: perceptual issues, data cleaning, visualization literacy,
geovisualization, etc.
- Innovative means for integrating research as part of coursework
- Material for teaching ethical considerations with regard to data
visualization
- Demonstrations of in-class exercises and technologies for facilitating
learning

Abstracts should describe ideas and/or pedagogical examples that have been
tried and tested in the classroom.

Submission

Abstracts should be between 2 to 4 pages. One extra page of references is
allowed (for a maximum of 5 pages with the last page containing only
references). Submissions should follow the VGTC Conference formatting
guidelines at:

Accepted abstracts will be invited to give a brief talk at the workshop and
will be posted on our website.
