                       Call for Workshops Proposals*

*SIBGRAPI* - Conference on Graphics, Patterns and Images (formerly
Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing) is
a traditional forum bringing together researchers, students and
professionals in Computer Graphics, Image Processing, Computer Vision,
Visualization, Pattern Recognition and related areas. It is annually
promoted by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) through its
CEGRAPI committee.

The conference started in 1988 as a small symposium and has grown
in importance along the years. Since 1996 the Proceedings are available
at IEEE Xplore, and each year special efforts have been made to publish
extended versions of the best papers in well-qualified journals
of related areas.

SIBGRAPI 2013 will be held on August 5-9, in the historical city of
Arequipa, Peru. For the first time outside Brazil! Arequipa is placed
in the Southern Coastal region of Peru just below the edge of the
Altiplano at 2,335 meters above sea level and surrounded by three
impressive volcanoes. Arequipa is also known as The White City
(Ciudad Blanca) because of its many colonial-era Spanish buildings
built of "sillar", a pearly white volcanic rock. The city is about
an hour away by plane from Lima and 35 minutes away of Cuzco.

*SIBGRAPI 2013 invites proposals for workshops*, to be held as special
sessions of the conference. The purpose of these workshops is to provide
participants with an informal setting for discussing innovative work
on important new technical directions. Workshops should last 2 to 4 hours.
Although the format of the workshop is to be determined by
the organizers, substantial time is expected to be allotted for
discussion.

Workshop proposals should be submitted as a pdf file sent by
e-mail to nedel at inf.ufrgs.br and nina at ime.usp.br .
Proposals should be at most 2-3 pages in length and should contain:

- a brief description of the specific technical issues that the
  workshop will address;
- the reasons why the workshop is of interest at this time,
- names and contact information of the organizers committee. This
  committee should consist of at least three experts in the field,
  not all from the same institution. One of the members should be
  identified as the contact person;
- estimated audience size and composition;
- format and agenda;
- procedures for selecting papers or other types of work;
- a list of audio-visual or technical requirements and any special
  room requirements;
- a list of workshops previously organized by any of the members
  of the organizing committee (previous experience on organizing
  workshops is not a requirement).

*Important Dates *(for workshops proposals):

    Submission deadline: March 29th
    Notification of acceptance: April 08th

Early acceptance may be given to competitive proposals.

*Evaluation Process:
*
The SIBGRAPI program chairs will review the proposals regarding:
attractiveness, relevance and benefits to the CG, IP, CV and PR communities;
expertise of organizers in the subject area; format and agenda.
