TEASYS – NEWS
 
We are ready for the summer term 2023, and the Annotating Literature  
groups are meeting again to learn collaboratively about annotation and  
provide help for others to understand Charles Dickens’s /The Chimes/,  
Beaumont and Fletcher’s joint venture /The Knight of the Burning  
Pestle/, and a variety of poems. The groups will continue to meet  
regularly with the additional two interactive workshop sessions. The  
regular meetings will take place in person during the following time  
slots starting May 8, 2023:
 
/The Chimes/: Tuesdays 16:15-17:45
/The Knight of the Burning Pestle/: Fridays 12:15-13:45
/Poetry/: Tuesdays 18:15-19:45
 
Students of all levels are cordially invited to join us. So, spread  
the word and drop us an email

our project.

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[1] is looking forward to your  
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to  
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that  
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),  
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to  
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on  
our webpage. We thank you for your help.

CALLS FOR PAPERS
 
As a reminder, you can find the call for contributions for THE FORGE  
2023 IN TüBINGEN here[2] and still submit your ideas UNTIL APRIL 28,  
2023. The Forge will take place from October 4-6, 2023, and deals  
critically with research data in the Humanities.
 
A call for papers[3] for the 4th GI workshop INFORMATIK UND DIGITAL  
HUMANITIES (INFDH) 2023: “Digital Cultures & Cultural Analytics” has  
been issued. Possible contributions should cover aspects of Cultural  
Analytics through methods from machine learning, signal processing,  
simulation or comparable approaches in all kinds of areas:  
Computational Musicology und Music Information Retrieval,  
Computational Linguistics, Computational Literary Studies,  
Computational Film Studies and Video Analytics, Computational Game  
Studies, or Digital Art History. You may submit your paper UNTIL MAY  
5, 2023.
 
The Z.B. ZEITSCHRIFT ZUM BEISPIEL[4] has published a call for papers  
that may be concerned with examples of data mining in literary  
corpora, digital annotation, automatised identification or  
classification of examples, falsification of literary theses through  
digitally identified counter examples… Please submit an abstract or  
propositions with explanations of max. one page UNTIL MAY 30, 2023,  
via email to Frau Rebekka Röttger(rebekka.roettger at fernuni-hagen.de).
 
For the interdisciplinary workshop “VOM ERKUNDEN ZUR ERKENNTNIS?  
ANSäTZE UND PERSPEKTIVEN DIGITALER SAMMLUNGSVISUALISIERUNGEN” on  
Novermber 10, 2023, in the Forschungsbibliothek Gotha at the  
University of Erfurt a call for papers has been published online[5].  
The workshop is focused on recent developments, strategies, and  
methods of the preparation of collections for the digital realm.  
Deadline for submission is MAY 31, 2023.

JOBS, GRANTS, AND AWARDS
 
The faculty of linguistics and literary studies at the University of  
Bielefeld is seeking a part-time research assistant for digital  
literary studies for one year (50%, E13 TV-L). The position serves to  
establish “digitality” and “data literacy” in the academic course of  
German studies. BE QUICK AND APPLY UNTIL APRIL 13, 2023. The job

The Leibniz-Institut für Europäische Geschichte (IEG) in Mainz is  
offering EIGHT-MONTH GRANTS for PhD candidates and postdocs in the  
field of Digital Humanities starting September 2023. The deadline for  
application is APRIL 16, 2023. Please find more details online[7].
 
The Zentrum für Kulturen & Technologien des Sammelns (CCTC) at the  
University for Continuing Education Krems is hiring a part-time Senior  
Lecturer (Post-Doc) in Austria. Find out more about this job offer  
here[8] and mind the APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 18, 2023.
 
The Deutsche Historische Institut (DHI) in Rome is hiring a research  
assistant in the Digital Humanities with the focus on knowledge and  
software engineering. Tasks would be development of a semantic data  
model for the processing of curial sources from the early modern  
period through the implementation of respective standards and  
technologies (RDF, SPARQL, SKOS, CIDOC-CRM, etc.), evaluation and  
implementation of a research information system for the management,  
analysis, and publication of the data that has been gathered within  
the project and more. The job offer is available online[9] and the  
application deadline is APRIL 30, 2023.
 
The DFG-funded project “User’s Choice of Images and Text to Express  
Emotions in Twitter and Reddit” at the Institute for Natural Language  
Processing at the University of Stuttgart invites applications for a  
1-YEAR POSTDOC AND A 3-YEAR POSTDOC POSITION. Both positions are  
further described in the digital job offers[10]. APPLICATION DEADLINE  
IS MAY 10, 2023.
 
The Walter Benjamin Kolleg is awarding the annual prize “Young  
Scholar” to excellent young researchers from Switzerland and abroad  
who vividly communicate their interdisciplinary research in the  
Humanities to a broad public. S

SUMMER SCHOOLS, WORKSHOPS, AND CERTIFICATES
 
The Faculty of Arts of the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) is  
organizing a SUMMER SCHOOL ON DIGITAL METHODS IN THE HUMANITIES, to  
take place June 12-15, 2023 for undergraduate and postgraduate  
students. Researchers and other professionals, however, are also most  
welcome to attend. The workshop aims at introducing its attendees to a  
range of digital methods that are currently applied in the humanities  
and social sciences. Find further details online[11] and APPLY UNTIL  
APRIL 21, 2023.
 
The Cultural Research Data Academy is hosting an ONLINE WORKSHOP on  
May 11, 2023 (14-16:30) on the topic “Audiovisuelle (Forschungs-)Daten  
– Anwendungsbereiche und Analysetools”. It is primarily aimed at  
employees and researchers from academia, and cultural heritage and  
memorial institutions that are interested in challenges and tools for  
dealing with audio-visual data in humanistic working areas like  
libraries, GLAM-Institutions (Galleries, Libraries, Archives,  
Museums), and academic projects. You can apply here UNTIL MAY 4, 2023.
 
You can now register for the EXPLORESALON 2023! From May 22 – 26,  
2023, 30 participants will have the opportunity to explore Vienna and  
all the digitised data that harbours stories and memories from the  
past: letters, diaries, chronicles, plaques, and much more. The goal  
of this trip is to get into contact with other creative minds and come  
up with stories and ideas with and through data. If you are

RECENT PUBLICATIONS
 
Members of the task area ‘editions’ in the consortium Text+[14] of the  
National Research Data Infrastructure have published their first  
volume in RIDE. Issue 16: Scholarly Editions (FAIR criteria) can be  
perused online here[15]. A second volume is in the making for which  
you may apply as reviewer here[16].
