TEASYS – NEWS

From August 29 to September 2, 2022, the European Society for the
Study of English (ESSE) Conference will be hosted at Johannes
Gutenberg University, Mainz on-side. In collaboration with corpus

Angelika Zirker (University of Tübingen) will present a paper titled
“Green Mounds, Blue Eyes, Black Death: A Digital Humanities Approach
to Colours in Dickens” in the panel “Dickens and/in Colour”. Their
talk will take place in Session 2, Slot 2 on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
Please find their abstract here[1] and general information on the ESSE
Conference here[2].

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[3] is looking forward to your
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on
our webpage. We thank you for your help.

CALLS FOR PAPERS

The International Journal for Digital and Public Humanities /magazén/
is calling for abstracts for the 2023 volume on the concept of
relations and how these relations are implemented, operationalised and
analysed as interdependencies, links, and connections in practices of
Digital and Public Humanities scholarship. Please submit your abstract
UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2022. For further information, you may have a look
here[4].

The University of Kent will be hosting the European Society for
Textual Scholarship’s 18th annual conference on APRIL 13-14, 2023. The
conference on ‘Authorship, Identity, and Textual Scholarship’ will be
held in person in Canterbury at the University of Kent campus and
Canterbury Cathedral Archives and Library. Proposals are invited from
researchers working on subjects ranging from antiquity to modern day
and may be creative as well as critical or analytical contributions to
panel and roundtable sessions. You can find further details on this
website[5]. Remember that ALL PROPOSALS ARE DUE BY OCTOBER 1, 2022.

The Hungarian Journal of English and American Studies invites
abstracts until OCTOBER 31, 2022, on the topic “The Digital
Environmental Humanities. Towards Theory and Praxis”. If you are
interested in submitting a paper on digital environmental humanities
or ecology, click on this link[6] to find the full call for papers.

The 17th International Connotations Symposium will take place next
year from July 30 to August 3, 2023. The organisers invite
contributions to the topic “‘And this gives life to thee’: Textual
Reasons for Canonicity”. The topic also invites questions of
methodology: how do we analyse texts to investigate the reasons why
certain texts have been given canonical status? How can digital
methods and work with larger corpora help come up with plausible
results? The submission deadline for abstracts (300 words) is NOVEMBER
30, 2022. Please send them to symposium2023 at connotations.de. For the
full CfP, please visit the journal’s website[7].
