TEASYS – NEWS

The European Society for the Study of English (ESSE) Conference[1]  
will take place at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany, from  
August 29 to September 2, 2022. In the context of this conference,  
Matthias Bauer, Angelika Zirker (both Tübingen University), and  
Nathalie Vanfasse (Aix-Marseille University) will host a panel on  
“Dickens in Colour”. They especially invite contributions from corpus  
linguistics and digital humanities. Scholars who wish to present their  
paper on the panel are invited to submit 200-word abstracts of their  
proposed presentations directly to the convenors:  
nathalie.vanfasse at univ-amu.fr. The DEADLINE for abstracts is JANUARY  
31, 2022.

The Annotating Literature student groups will continue to meet online  
during the summer term break. If you are interested or would like to  
come to one of the meetings, feel free to contact our mentors via

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[4] is looking forward to your  
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to  
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that  
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),  
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to  
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on

The Centre for Digital Humanities University of Lagos (CEDHUL),  
Nigeria, in conjunction with University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah,  
Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences Fez/Sais, Morocco organises the  
first African Electronic Literature Alliance International Workshop  
Conference (AELAIWC-2021) with the theme: Digital Tools & Hypertext  
Praxis in African Digital Literature. The conference dates are:

REGISTRATION is now open for the online networking meeting /  
Vernetzungstreffen „Forschungsdatenmanagement in den  
Geisteswissenschaften[6]“ (October 13, 2021).

You can now REGISTER for the interdisciplinary online workshop “Der  
Text und seine (Re)Produktion[7]” (September 29 – October 1, 2021).

Registration IS NOW OPEN for the online KUDH International Conference  
2021[8] “Digital Transformation in the Humanities” (October 2, 16, and  
23).

ride: A Review Journal for Digital Editions and Resources[9] is  
requesting reviews for its next issue. The deadline is SEPTEMBER 30,  
2021.

Students with an interest in the future of text, as well as its past,  
are invited to join a competition to have their article included in  
the second volume of ‘The Future of Text‘. Further details can be  
found on the journal website[10]. DEADLINE for submissions is  
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021.

The /Visualizing Objects, Places, and Spaces: A Digital Project  
Handbook/[11] editors are seeking submissions of sample  
assignments[12] and case studies[13]. The Handbook is available as an  
open resource that incorporates examples of research and teaching  
submitted by scholars and practitioners thus providing guidance for  
those starting or working on their own digital projects. For more  
information or to submit, please follow the link[11]. DEADLINE for  
submissions is SEPTEMBER 30, 2021.

The Digital Initiative for Classics: Epic Speeches[14] (DICES) is  
requesting submissions for two successive workshops (University of  
Rostock (Germany), June 30 - July 2, 2022 and Mount Allison University  
(Canada) in the summer of 2023). The deadline is OCTOBER 1, 2021.

Florida Digital Humanities Consortium[15] (FLDH) will host its 2nd  
annual conference at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL, on APRIL 2,  
2022. The DEADLINE for submissions is NOVEMBER 1, 2021.  You can  
submit your proposals here[16].

The Future Text Publishing[17] is working on a second volume  
publication of /The Future of Text/. If you would like to contribute,  
please visit the website[18] for more information as well as the  
submission guidelines.

  UPDATES

The programme for the EADH2021 conference[19] (Siberian Federal  
University, Krasnoyarsk, Russia; September 21-25, 2021) has recently  
been published. You can REGISTER here[20].

The programme[21] for the 2021 CLIR EVENTS in November is now  
available online! You can REGISTER UNTIL OCTOBER 25, 2021. 

Registration[22] for Digitorium 2021 is now open! You can also specify  
whether you prefer to participate in-person or virtually. The  
programme can be found on the Digitorium website[23].

  JOBS AND GRANTS

The Max Weber Stiftung (Germany) is hiring a developer/DH  
specialist[24] for its project /Corpus Musicae Ottomanicae/. The  
deadline is SEPTEMBER 24, 2021.

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar (Germany) is looking for a head of  
department[25] for its digital editions department. The deadline is  
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021.

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar (Germany) is hiring a research fellow[26]  
in the field of digital collections management. The deadline is  
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021.

The University of Siegen (Germany) is looking for a developer[27] for  
its project “Dialektatlas Mittleres Westdeutschland”. The deadline is  
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021.

GESIS invites applications for one-month research visits[28] at its  
research lab in
Cologne. The deadline is OCTOBER 15, 2021.

The Venice Centre for Digital and Public Humanities is offering four  
post-doc positions[29], one each in the fields of: Digital and Public  
Archaeology, Digital and Public Art History, Digital and Public  
History, and Digital and Public Philology. The deadline for all four  
positions is OCTOBER 31, 2021.

There is a position opening at Yale University in New Haven,  
Connecticut: DIGITAL HUMANITIES PROGRAM MANAGER. For the full job

EURONEWS initiative, funded by the Irish Research Council and hosted  
by University College Cork, is looking for a POSTDOC to work for a  
year on a platform collecting images and transcriptions of early  
modern handwritten newsletters. For more information, please follow

FASoS (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) at Maastricht University,  
NL, is looking for a POSTDOC to work with them for one year to develop  
a Digital Studies Lab (50% of the time). Full details are available

The Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is looking  
to hire a POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW to work on The First Three Years, a  
longitudinal research project. The project examines the experiences of  
new graduates of postsecondary video game programs as they transition

  RECENT PUBLICATIONS

The open-access journals /electronic book review/ and /the digital  
review/ just announced the forthcoming publication of their special  
issue /Critical Making, Critical Design/. The issue discusses digital  
experiments and processes in design, poetics, maker culture, and  
research-creation in international, institutional, sociocultural, and  
community contexts. You can already check out the Table of  
Contents[34]. A final Table of Contents with interactive links will  
follow shortly.
