The Annotating Literature student groups will continue to meet online  
during the summer term. We're always looking for new participants and  
if you are interested or would like to come to one of the introductory  
meetings, feel free to contact our mentors via email[1] or check out

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[5] is looking forward to your  
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to  
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that  
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),  
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to  
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on  
our webpage. We thank you for your help.

YOU UPDATED ON ANY CHANGES.
 
CALL FOR PAPERS for /Connections: A Journal of Language, Media, and  
Culture/: the journal invites high-quality research submissions for  
their 2021 publication. Please follow the submission guidelines[6] and  
upload your abstracts on the /Connections/ submission website[7].  
Please submit the abstract BEFORE APRIL 25, 2021.
 
Registrations for the online workshop “Networking the Networks –  
Opening OPERAS-GER[8]” (April 26, 2021) are due by 25 APRIL, 2021.
 
Four three-hour workshops on linked open data and Nodegoat[9] will be  
offered from April 28, 2021 onwards (Wednesdays, 14:00-17:00, UTC+1).  
Registration is due by 25 APRIL, 2021.
 
The Illinois Open Publishing Network (IOPN), based in the University  
of Illinois Library, is launching a new series supporting publication  
of digital scholarly editions of individual literary works. You can  
find the full announcement and a link to the CFP here[10]. For further  
questions about the series or a possible proposal, please get in touch  
(dtracy at illinois.edu)! Submissions are due by APRIL 30, 2021.
 
Call for Proposals for the 7th annual Digital Pedagogy Institute[11]  
(DPI). The conference will be taking place virtually ON AUGUST 10 AND  
11, 2021. Please fill out the CFP form[12] BY MAY 1ST, 2021. For more  
information, please visit the conference website[11].
 
Submissions for the online conference “FORGE 2021 – MAPPING THE  
LANDSCAPE: Geisteswissenschaftliches Forschungsdatenmanagement  
zwischen lokalen und globalen, generischen und spezifischen  
Lösungen[13]“ (September 8-10, 2021) are due by MAY 2, 2021.
 
Call for Papers for Connections: A Journal of Language, Media, and  
Culture[14]: all manuscripts should comply with the submission  
guidelines[6] and be submitted electronically through the submission  
website[15]. Please submit your paper BEFORE MAY 15, 2021. For  
questions, please send an email to cnctjrnl at ualberta.ca.
 
Applications for the European Summer University in Digital Humanities  
2021[16] (August 3-13, 2021, Leipzig) are due by MAY 15, 2021.
 
Hybrid Pedagogy Books[17] is pleased to announce a call for  
contributors for a new reader which will explore critical  
instructional design, a humanizing and problem-posing digital design  
approach grounded in the critical pedagogy of Paulo Freire. Draft  
submissions are DUE no later than JULY 15, 2021. Drafts should be  
submitted as Google Docs to Sean Michael Morris at  
sean.m.morris at ucdenver.edu. For the full CFP, please visit the

UPDATES

Editors of the newly re-constituted journal “Scholarly Editing” have  
decided to EXTEND the contribution DEADLINE for Issue 39 TO APRIL 30,  
2021. For more information see the see the “Contributing” page on  
their website[7].

DETAILS OF THE DHSI 2021 ONLINE EDITION (June 7-11 & 14-18, 2021)  
workshops and events are now available at dhsi.org[20], and  
registration has opened[21]!

The APPLICATION PERIOD for a place at the 11th European Summer  
University in Digital Humanities "Culture & Technology"(ESU DH  
C&T[22]) in Leipzig, FROM AUGUST 3-13, 2021, has started, you can  
still apply UNTIL MAY 15, 2021. For more information on how to apply,  
please follow this link[23]. Interest can be expressed already by  
creating an account with the ConfTool[24].

The University of Kiel (Germany) is looking for a DH developer[25]  
specialising in research infrastructures and digital editions. The  
deadline is APRIL 27, 2021.
 
The Kompetenzzentrum Digitale Forschung (Jena, Germany) is looking for  
two research fellows[26] in the field of data visualisation and  
high-performance computing. The deadline is 30 APRIL, 2021.
 
The Dissident Networks Project (Masaryk University, Czech Republic) is  
hiring (1) one research fellow[27] in the field of NLP/computational  
linguistics, (2) one geospatial data analyst[28], (3) one data  
scientist[29], and (4) a social network analysis researcher[30]. The  
deadline for the first three is 30 APRIL, 2021. The deadline for the  
last is MAY 17, 2021.
 
The University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany) is hiring six  
professors[31] (to be tenured) IN THE FIELD OF DIGITAL HUMANITIES AND  
DIGITAL SOCIAL STUDIES. THE DEADLINE IS MAY 23, 2021.
 
The Department of Greek and Latin Philology (Freiburg University,  
Germany) is hiring a postdoc or a PhD candidate[32]. The deadline is  
MAY 31, 2021.

RECENT PUBLICATIONS

Kalir, Remi, and Antero Garcia just published their monograph  
/Annotation/ with MIT Press this month! The volume offers an  
introduction to annotation and its significance across historical and  
contemporary contexts. For more information on this book in the MIT  
Press Essential Knowledge series, please follow the link[33].
