The Annotated Web Edition Directory[3] is looking forward to your  
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to  
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that  
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),  
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to  
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on

CALLS FOR PAPERS/UPCOMING EVENTS

The Ca’ Foscari University of Venice cordially invites proposals for  
the International symposium “Textual Heritage in the 21st Century  
World”, to be hosted virtually on Zoom (March 22-24, 2021). Submission  
DEADLINE is DECEMBER 21, 2020. For the full programme and submission  
guidelines see the website[4].

Jan Horstmann and Frank Fischer are inviting submissions for the  
special volume “Digitale Verfahren in der Literaturwissenschaft“ in  
the open access journal /Textpraxis. Digitales Journal für  
Philologie/[5]. The deadline is DECEMBER 31, 2020.

The editors of /Visualizing Objects, Places, and Spaces: A Digital  
Project Handbook/[6] seek case studies and  assignment submissions to  
help answer this question: What does it take to create a digital  
research project or assignment? The submission DEADLINE is DECEMBER  
31, 2020. Please send any questions to digitalhandbook at duke.edu.

The European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH) invites  
submission of PROPOSALS for its 2nd International Conference EADH 2021  
(from September 21-25, 2021, in Siberian Federal University in  
Krasnoyarsk, Russia). Should circumstances make it necessary, the  
conference might go entirely virtual. For updates, you can access the  
conference website here[7] (later https://eadh2020-2021.org/). You can  
also submit your proposal via ConfTool[8]. DEADLINE for submissions is  
on JANUARY 10, 2021.

Proposals for the online conference “What’s Past is Prologue: The  
NewsEye International Conference – Towards a future of  
interdisciplinary collaboration between Cultural Heritage, Digital  
Humanities, Computer Science and Data Science[9]’” (March 16-17, 2021)  
are due on JANUARY 10, 2021.

Proposals for the online workshop “Die mittelalterlichen  
Buchhandschriften der Klosterbibliothek Corvey digital[10]” (May  
27-29, 2020) are due on JANUARY 15, 2021.

Applications for the online workshop “Sentiment Analysis in Literary  
Studies[11]” (February 17-19, 2021) are due on JANUARY 15, 2021.

The Canadian Society of Digital Humanities[12] invites scholars,  
practitioners, and graduate students to submit proposals for its  
annual meeting, to be held remotely as part of the 2021 Congress of  
the Social Sciences and Humanities[13] at the University of Alberta  
(May 30 - June 4, 2021). DEADLINE for submissions is JANUARY 15, 2021.  
Please submit your proposals via conftool[14].

Call for Contributions for the 25th conference on Theory and Practice  
of Digital Libraries. It takes place under the theme “Linking Theory  
and Practice” (from September 13-17, 2021). Submission deadline for  
workshops and tutorials is JANUARY 13, 2021. Submission deadline for  
papers, demos and posters is April 14, 2021. For a full call for  
contributions please see here[15].

Submissions for the Third Biennial Conference on Language, Data and  
Knowledge[16] (JUNE 14-16, 2021, Zaragoza, Spain) are due by JANUARY  
29, 2021.

The open access journal /KULA/[17] invites proposals for its special  
issue on “Metadata, Knowledge, and Open Knowledge Projects”. Please  
submit your abstracts (300-500 words) through the journal's website by  
JANUARY 31, 2021.

The Research Data Alliance Deutschland conference[18] will be held  
online FEBRUARY 22-26, 2021.

Save the date: the CfP for “MAPPING THE LANDSCAPE:  
Geisteswissenschaftliches Forschungsdatenmanagement zwischen lokalen  
und globalen, generischen und spezifischen Lösungen[19]“ (September  
8-10, 2021, Cologne) will be posted in January.

The 8th annual DHd conference[20] (Digital Humanities im  
deutschsprachigen Raum) will take place MARCH 7-11, 2022, in Potsdam.

UPDATES

The Helsinki Digital Humanities Hackathon[23] is postponed till autumn  
2021, register your interest to keep informed. It will be organized  
under the name #DHH21.

Editors of the newly re-constituted journal “Scholarly Editing” have  
decided to EXTEND the contribution DEADLINE for Issue 39 TO APRIL 30,  
2021. For more information see the see the “Contributing” page on  
their website[24].

The Berlin-Brandenburgische  Akademie  der  Wissenschaften is looking  
for a research fellow[25] in the fields of programming and digital  
editions. The deadline is JANUARY 3, 2021.

The University of Vienna is offering one PhD position[26] in the field  
of history/DH. The deadline is JANUARY 6, 2021.

The Austrian National Library is looking for a software engineer[27]  
for a digital edition of Peter Handke’s notebooks. The deadline is  
JANUARY 7, 2021.

The public organisation ‘Staatliche   Schlösser   und   Gärten    
Hessen‘ is hiring a data curator[28]. The deadline is JANUARY 8, 2021.

The Umweltbundesamt (federal environment agency) is hiring a research  
fellow[29] for its library and repository. The deadline is JANUARY 13,  
2021.

The Collaborative Research Center 1288 “Practices of Comparing”  
(Bielefeld, Germany) is looking for a research fellow[30] in the field  
of research software engineering. The deadline is JANUARY 13, 2021.

The University of Klagenfurt is offering a postdoc position[31] in the  
field of German literature/DH. The deadline is JANUARY 13, 2021.

The Center for Spatial and Textual Analysis[32] (CESTA) (in  
co-operation with the Stanford's Center for Interdisciplinary Digital  
Research[33] (CIDR)) is hiring a Digital Scholarship Coordinator to  
lead the development of digital collections, projects, and

RECENT PUBLICATIONS

The thirteenth issue of the review journal RIDE by the Institute of  
Documentology and Scholarly Editing (IDE) was released! Check it out  
here[35].

The Venice Centre for Digital and Public Humanities[36] (VeDPH)  
published its inaugural 2020 volume of magazén, the International  
Journal for Digital and Public Humanities. You can access the first  
issue via this link[37].

The /Future of Text/ was published on November 20, 2020. The book is  
intended to be the first edition of several annual publications  
dedicated to all things text. Check out the website[38] or purchase  
the book!
