Miriam Lahrsow, one of our PhD students, published a post on the blog
of the Eighteenth-Century Paratext Research Network titled “Did Anyone
Even Read the Notes in Romantic Poetry?[1]”.

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[2] is looking forward to your
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on
our webpage. We thank you for your help.
Our most recent addition to the directory is The Digital Temple - A
Documentary Edition of George Herbert’s English Verse[3].

CALLS FOR PAPERS/UPCOMING EVENTS
The conference Neo-Paleography: Analysing Ancient Handwritings in the
Digital Age[4] will take place January 27-29, 2020 in Basel,
Switzerland. Please NOTIFY YOUR INTEREST TO ATTEND via email

The Digital Americanists Society[5] accepts PROPOSALS for a panel and
roundtable to be held at the 2020 American Literature Association (May
21-24, 2020; San Diego). DEADLINE for all SUBMISSIONS is JANUARY 13,
2020. Send abstracts or questions by email to
digitalamericanists at gmail.com.
PROPOSALS can now be submitted for SHARP2020 (June 15-19, 2020,
Amsterdam) via the website[6].
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: /Visualizing Objects, Places, and Spaces: A
Digital Project Handbook/[7] SUBMISSION DEADLINE is JANUARY 15, 2020.
PROPOSALS are now being accepted for presentations at the DHSI
Conference & Colloquium, to be held in June 2020 alongside classes at
the Digital Humanities Summer Institute, University of Victoria.

CALL FOR PAPERS for the Digital Humanities Pedagogy and Training
Conference 2020 (June 5-6 2020; Victoria, British Columbia, Canada).
PROPOSALS are DUE FEBRUARY 14, 2020. Please submit via

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS for "Advanced digital editing: modeling the text
and making the edition", a summer NEH Institute for Advanced Topics in
the Digital Humanities (July 6 - July 17, 2020). Application deadline:
FEBRUARY 28, 2020.
Umanistica Digitale, the journal of AIUCD (Italian DH Association), is
now accepting proposals for the number 9 (scheduled for publishing
Autumn 2020). The journal publishes original scientific articles
(5-10.000 words), reviews and event reports (1-3.500 words) in Italian
and English on any subject and sub-field of Digital Humanities. The
proposals[8] must be SUBMITTED to the journal OJS website by FEBRUARY
29, 2020.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: The Journal of the European Society for Textual
Scholarship[9] invites you to submit an essay for the journal’s 15th
edition. Please send an abstract by January 10, 2020 (approximately 50
to 100 words) to variants at textualscholarship.eu. Full papers are due
by MARCH 13, 2020.
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS: The /Journal of Open Archaeology Data
(JOAD)/[10] is accepting submissions for publication for 2019. JOAD
publishes data papers, which do not contain research results but
rather a concise description of a dataset, and where to find it. Any
kind of archaeological data is acceptable, including for example:
geophysical data; quantitative or qualitative data; images; notebooks;
excavation data, software, etc. Submissions can be sent throughout the
year.
CALL FOR ESSAYS for /Impressions, Vol. 2: Essays on the Art of
Printing/[11], published by The Legacy Press. For more information

Applications are invited for participation in a series of advanced
institutes on text analysis, sponsored by the Northeastern University
Women Writers Project. The programme includes can be found under the

UPDATES
The European Association for Digital Humanities is very pleased to
announce that its second INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE EADH 2020 will be
held in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The conference will be hosted by the
Siberian Federal University and will take place in September 2020.

SUMMER SCHOOLS
You can now register[13] for the DHSI 2020[14], taking place between
June 1-5 and June 8-12, 2020, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. A
list of course offerings can be found at

University College Cork, Ireland, from June 15-19, 2020. For more

JOBS/SCHOLARSHIPS/GRANTS
The French Studies Seminar at the University of Basel is looking for
an IT technician[16] (50%) to join the group „Le Rire des vers –
Mining the Comic Verse.“
The Staats- and Universitätsbibliothek Hamburg is offering an
executive position[17] in its "Arbeitsstelle Digitalisierung / Führung
eines Sondersammlungsreferats". The deadline is DECEMBER 26, 2019.
The Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities is offering a postdoc[18]
position in its project on digital prosopography. The deadline is 31
DECEMBER, 2019.
With the support of the Gerda Henkel Foundation, the German Historical
Institute (GHI) and the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New
Media at the George Mason University (RRCHNM) invite applications from
postdoctoral scholars and advanced doctoral students based in Europe
for a 12-month fellowship in digital history[19]. The deadline is
JANUARY 5, 2020.
The Department of Language and Information Sciences of the Faculty of
Arts of the University of Lausanne is looking for a postdoc[20] (SNSF
senior researcher) in digital humanities. The deadline is JANUARY 6,
2020.
The Department of Computer Science at Durham University seeks to
appoint a number of Assistant/AssociateProfessors in Computer
Science[21]. The deadline is JANUARY 10, 2020.
The Kommission für Alte Geschichte und Epigraphik München des
Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts (Munich) is hiring a research
assistant in the field of research data management[22]. The deadline
is JANUARY 10, 2020.
The University of Heidelberg is looking for a coordinator[23] in the
field of the DH for its project on “Kulturelle Dynamiken in
globalisierten Welten”. The deadline is JANUARY 12, 2020.
The Ludwig-Uhland-Institut für Empirische Kulturwissenschaft
(Tübingen) is offering one PhD position[24] in its project "Technik
und Virtualität in der Hochschullehre". The deadline is JANUARY 15,
2020.
The University of Oldenburg is offering up to eight PhD positions[25]
in its project “Gestalten der Zukunft – Transformation der Gegenwart
durch Szenarien der Digitalisierung”. The deadline is JANUARY 20, 2020.
RDA Europe is offering up to seven grants[26] of maximum €2400 to
Early Career European Researchers & Scientists working with data to
attend the 15th RDA Plenary meeting, to be held in Melbourne,
Australia, 18 - 20 March 2020. The deadline is FEBRUARY 3, 2020.

Nine chapters (and counting) are released Green Open Access from the
new Routledge International Handbook of New Digital Practices in
