TEASYS – NEWS

The 15TH INTERNATIONAL /CONNOTATIONS/ SYMPOSIUM took place July 28 -  
August 1, 2019 in Tübingen. This year’s topic was “UNDERSTANDING  
(THROUGH) ANNOTATIONS”. You can find the programme here[1].
 
The “Annotating Literature Peer Learning Project” is now part of the  
/Studium Professionale/ programme offered by the University of  
Tübingen. You can find a link to the full programme and the project  
description under this link[2]. REGISTRATION via Campus is possible  
FROM AUGUST 22, 2019, onwards. If you are interested in joining, you

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[3] is looking forward to your  
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to  
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that  
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),  
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to  
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on  
our webpage. We thank you for your help.

CALLS FOR PAPERS/UPCOMING EVENTS

Call for posters on late-breaking research-TEI 2019 edition of the  
annual TEI Conference and Members’ Meeting, “What is text, really? TEI  
and beyond”, hosted at the University of Graz in Austria, from  
September 16-20, 2019. The deadline for submissions is AUGUST 29,  
2019. Proposals must be submitted online via ConfTool[4].

Poster proposals for the Computational Linguistics Poster Session[5]  
at the 42th DGfS Jahrestagung (March 4-6, 2020, Hamburg) are DUE  
AUGUST 30, 2019.

Call for Proposals for the CAPOS Gathering[6] “Knowledge Creation in  
the 21st Century: Approaches to Open, Digital Scholarship” on December  
6-7, 2019 at the University of Newcastle. Proposals are DUE SEPTEMBER  
1,  2019.

Applications are due SEPTEMBER 6, 2019 for the Summer School  
“Reflections on Code[7]” (October 8-11, 2019, Mainz, Germany).

Proposals are due SEPTEMBER 8, 2019 for the 9th Annual AIUCD  
conference on “The Inevitable Turn: Challenges and Perspectives in  
Humanities Computing”[8] (January 15-17, 2020, Milan).

Submissions are due SEPTEMBER 15, 2019 for the conference on Digitised  
newspapers - a new Eldorado for historians?[9] (April 24-25, 2020,  
Lausanne, Switzerland).

Submissions are due SEPTEMBER 16, 2019 for the 7th annual DHd  
conference on “Spielräume – Digital Humanities zwischen Modellierung  
und Interpretation“[10] (March 2-6, 2020, Paderborn, Germany).

Call for Proposals for the INKE-hosted gathering[11] “Open Scholarship  
for the 2020s” on January 14, 2020 in Victoria, BC, Canada. Proposals  
are due OCTOBER 1, 2019.

The Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO) invites  
contributions of proposals for its annual Digital Humanities 2020  
conference “Carrefours/Intersections[12]”. The conference will be held  
July 20-25, 2020 at Carleton
University and the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada. Submissions  
deadline is OCTOBER 15, 2019. For more details see dh2020.adho.org[13].

Proposals are due OCTOBER 15, 2019 for the workshop “Tipping Points.  
Zum Verhältnis von Freiheit und Restriktion im Urheberrecht[14]”  
(February 20-21, 2020, Berlin).

Call for Hosts: The DHd invites universities in German-speaking  
countries to apply for hosting their annual conferences in 2021 and  
2022[15]. The deadline is NOVEMBER 10, 2019.

Applications are due NOVEMBER 30, 2019 for the International Spring  
School “Own Data. Systems Medicine between Sovereignty and  
Solidarity[16]“ (30 March – 2 April, 2020, Erlangen and Nuremberg,  
Germany).

CALL FOR ESSAYS for /Impressions, Vol. 2: Essays on the Art of

  UPDATES

The Digital Library Federation[18] released the full programme for the  
2019 DLF Forum, “Learn at DLF, and Digital Preservation 2019: Critical  
Junctures”, taking place OCTOBER 13-17, 2019 in Tampa, Florida. Check  
it out here[19].

The programme for the TEI Conference is now online! Check it out  
here[20]. The EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION price for the is CLOSING ON  
AUGUST 18, 2019 of. Register[4] now to  get the Early Bird discount!

The “Access 2019” programme is now available online[21]! You can  
register[22] until August 16, 2019 for early-bird pricing!
The DCMI 2019 Programme is now online. Check it out here[23].  

REGISTRATION for Digitorium[24] 2019 is now open! Join the conference  
at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa ON OCTOBER 10-12, 2019.  
Registration information can be found here[25].

JOBS/SCHOLARSHIPS/GRANTS

Managers of data repositories can apply for support towards achieving  
CoreTrustSeal certification and for support towards increasing  
repository interoperability. The support is funded by FAIRsFAIR[26];  
the deadline is AUGUST 30, 2019.

The Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany) is hiring a research  
fellow[27] (post doc) for its chair of digital philology. The deadline  
is AUGUST 31, 2019.

PHAROS, the International Consortium of Photo Archives, seeks a  
project manager[28] for a 30-month pilot project (July 1, 2019 -  
December 31st 2021) to create a scholarly research platform. The  
deadline is AUGUST 31, 2019.

Four POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS are open at the Centre for  
Digital and Public Humanities of the Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici  
at Ca' Foscari Università[29] di Venezia. The application DEADLINE IS  
SEPTEMBER 10, 2019. For the full announcement see here[30].

The Deutsches Historisches Institut Paris (DHIP) is looking for a  
research fellow[31] in the field of the Digital Humanities. The  
deadline is SEPTEMBER 15, 2019.

The University of Klagenfurt (Austria) is offering a fixed-term (5  
years) professorship[32] of machine learning/data science. The  
deadline is OCTOBER 2, 2019.

RECENT ARTICLES/ISSUES/SURVEYS

The special issue of /Archives and Manuscripts/ "After the digital  
revolution: working with emails and born-digital records in literary  
and publishers? archives[33]" is now available.

Brian Croxall (BYU) and Diane Jakacki (Bucknell University) are  
conducting a research study: “Who Teaches When We Teach Digital  
Humanities?” They hope to learn more about (1) the training and  
preparation of those who teach digital humanities and (2) the  
for-credit and informal teaching DH teachers do. You can find the
