In the context of the conference on /Annotationen in Edition und  
Forschung: Funktionsbestimmung, Differenzierung, Systematisierung  
/(20.–22.2.2019, Wuppertal, Germany), Angelika Zirker and Matthias  
Bauer gave a talk on the “Challenges of Automation: Some Theoretical  
Considerations about Explanatory Annotation in Literary Studies”. For

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[2] is looking forward to your  
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to  
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that  
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),  
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to  
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on

CALLS FOR PAPERS/UPCOMING EVENTS

Registration for the Music Encoding Conference[3] 2019 (May 29 - June  
1, Vienna) is now open. The deadline for early bird tickets is APRIL  
1, 2019.

Call for abstracts for the upcoming edited volume /Debates in Digital  
Humanities Pedagogy/. The book will appear in the Debates in the  
Digital Humanities series from the University of Minnesota Press,  
edited by Matthew K. Gold and Lauren F. Klein. For a full CFP see  
here[4]. Deadline for abstracts is APRIL 1, 2019.

Submissions for the conference on Early Modern Digital Humanities[5]  
(October 17-20, 2019, St. Louis, Missouri) are due on APRIL 7, 2019.

Proposals for the conference on Digital History: Konzepte, Methoden  
und Kritiken digitaler Geschichtswissenschaften[6] (March 16-18, 2020,  
Göttingen, Germany) are due APRIL 15, 2019.

Submissions for the CLARIN Annual Conference 2019 (September 30 –  
October 2, 2019, Leipzig) are due APRIL 15, 2019.

Call for proposals for the InfDH 2019 Workshop “Software Engineering  
in den Digital Humanities[7]” (September 23-24, 2019, Kassel,  
Germany). The deadline is APRIL 24, 2019.

Registration for the workshop on /Linguistic Resources & NLP Tools for  
Latin[8]/ (June 3-4, 2019, Milan) is DUE ON APRIL 30, 2019.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS for the 6th Annual Digital Pedagogy Institute (DPI)  
Conference (July 31 - August 1, 2019) at the University of Waterloo,  
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. For submission guidelines see website[9].

The Japanese Association for Digital Humanities (JADH) is pleased to  
announce its ninth annual conference with the topic "Localization in  
Global DH", to be held at Kansai University, Osaka, Japan (August  
29-31, 2019). Please submit abstracts via the open conference  
system [10] by MAY 7, 2019.

Call for articles: Submissions for de Gruyter’s /Open Theology/ with a  
focus on "Digital Humanities in Biblical Studies and Theology"[11] are  
due MAY 31, 2019.

Reviews of digital tools and environments for the journal /RIDE/ are  
due MAY 31, 2019. For more information please see[12].

Call for papers for a conference 2018 issue (13) of the JTEI. Any  
articles connected with papers, posters, demonstrations delivered  
during the conference can be handed in. Submissions are due JUNE 1,  
2019.  The full CfP is here[13]. 

Routledge launches a NEW BOOK SERIES, Routledge Studies in  
Archives[14], edited by James Lowry and ACCEPTING PROPOSALS related to  
current research in records and archives studies.

  SUMMER SCHOOLS

The 10th European Summer University in Digital Humanities[16] will  
take place from 23 July to 2 August, 2019 in Leipzig. The application  
phase will BEGIN ON MARCH 10, 2019.

  CONFERENCE UPDATES

The 5th year of Guelph Summer Workshops[17] is open for  
registration[18]. Save the dates of MAY 7-10, 2019.

REGISTRATION is now OPEN for the Humanities Intensive Learning and  
Teaching[19] (HILT) conference in Indianapolis from JUNE 3-7, 2019.

The DCMI Annual Conference[20] in 2019 will be hosted by the Korean  
National Library in Seoul from SEPTEMBER 23-26, 2019. Further details  
and the call for participation[21] are now online!

Registration[22] for the 2019 Electronic Literature Organization  
Conference & Media Arts Festival is now open.

JOBS/SCHOLARSHIPS

The Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften (Munich) is hiring a  
full-stack web developer[23]. The deadline is MARCH 20, 2019.

The Austrian National Library is looking for a software developer  
specialising in DH[24]. The deadline is MARCH 20, 2019.

The Cluster of Excellence “Temporal Communities (Freie Universität  
Berlin) is offering two postdoc positions. One for a research-track  
postdoc[25], one for an IT researcher[26]. The deadline for both is  
MARCH 21, 2019.

The Seminar für Sprachwissenschaft, Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft und  
Computerlinguistik at the University of Tübingen is hiring two  
research fellows. See here[27] and here[28].  The deadline for both is  
MARCH 31, 2019.

The Bildarchiv Marburg (Germany) is offering one PhD position in the  
field of art history[29]. The deadline is APRIL 5, 2019.

Doctoral candidates and postdocs in the field of social sciences can  
apply for a GESIS grant[30] to fund their research stay at the GESIS  
institute. The DEADLINE is APRIL 7, 2019.

The company /pagina/ (Tübingen) is looking for a software  
programmer[31]. Applications by recent graduates and job starters are
