TEASYS – NEWS

A joint article on “Students as Digital Annotators of Shakespeare’s  
Sonnets” by Leonie Kirchhoff, Miriam Lahrsow and Angelika Zirker is  
now available online at Digital English[1] (ed. Naomi Milthorpe et  
al.), a platform that offers university teachers a variety of  
different teaching methods to explore in the field of digital  
humanities. See here, for more information and a link to the article[2].

In the context of the conference on /Annotationen in Edition und  
Forschung: Funktionsbestimmung, Differenzierung, Systematisierung  
/(20.–22.2.2019, Wuppertal, Germany), Angelika Zirker and Matthias  
Bauer will give a talk on the “Challenges of Automation: Some  
Theoretical Considerations about Explanatory Annotation in Literary  
Studies”. For the abstract see here[3].

The Annotated Web Edition Directory[4] is looking forward to your  
suggestions. We are always on the look-out for new entries to add to  
the list. Feel free to recommend literary digital editions that  
include explanatory annotation (of the social or the editorial kind),  
web platforms, tools and applications that enable the user to  
(collaboratively) annotate texts. Please use the corresponding form on

CALLS FOR PAPERS/UPCOMING EVENTS

The DHSI[5] has released their programme for 2019! The summer school  
will be from 3-7 and 10-June 14, 2019 in Victoria, British Columbia,  
Canada. You can register via http://dhsi.org/courses.php and you can  
apply for a scholarship here[6].

Call for papers for next summer's annual meeting: EVIDENCE! and the  
Editing of Historical Documents[7], hosted by The Association for  
Documentary Editing.  Deadline is FEBRUARY 20, 2019.

Call for Papers: The Acquisition and Collection Development Section[8]  
is seeking proposals for papers to be presented at the IFLA World  
Library and Information Congress in Athens, Greece (August 24-30,  
2019). All proposals must be handed in by FEBRUARY 28, 2019. For a  
link to the CfP click here[9].

Call for video submissions for “The Mediated Text.” Deadline is  
FEBRUARY 28, 2019. Videos should make sense without audio and should  
not exceed the 10 minutes limit. Please, only send videos in the  
following format: MP4/H264 files, with aspect ratios of 16:9 and  
minimum resolutions of 720p to L.R.Henrickson at lboro.ac.uk.

Submissions are due FEBRUARY 28, 2019 for the 13th Historical Network  
Research[10] (May 27-25, Mainz).

Submissions are due MARCH 15 for the special issue of /Computers and  
Composition/ titled Rhetorics of Data: Collection, Consent, & Critical  
Digital Literacies[11].

Submissions are due MARCH 15 for a special issue of the /Journal of  
Cultural Analytics/ and /Post-45 /titled "Computational Approaches to  
Contemporary Culture[12]."

Submissions are due MARCH 18 for the International Conference on  
Digital Preservation (iPRES)[13] in Amsterdam (September 16-20, 2019)  
with theme "Eye on the Horizon."

Call for Papers for the Convention of the Modern Language Association  
in Seattle, WA (January 9-12, 2020). The topic is “Brecht as Data  
Set.” Abstracts can be sent to Marc Silberman (mdsilber at wisc.edu) and  
Evan Torner (evan.torner at uc.edu) by MARCH 18, 2019.

Call for abstracts for the upcoming edited volume /Debates in Digital  
Humanities Pedagogy/. The book will appear in the Debates in the  
Digital Humanities series from the University of Minnesota Press,  
edited by Matthew K. Gold and Lauren F. Klein. For a full CFP see  
here[14]. Deadline for abstracts is APRIL 1, 2019.

Call for proposals for the InfDH 2019 Workshop “Software Engineering  
in den Digital Humanities[15]” (September 23-24, 2019, Kassel,  
Germany). The deadline is APRIL 24, 2019.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS for the 6th Annual Digital Pedagogy Institute (DPI)  
Conference (July 31 - August 1, 2019) at the University of Waterloo,  
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. For submission guidelines see website[16].

The Japanese Association for Digital Humanities (JADH) is pleased to  
announce its ninth annual conference with the topic "Localization in  
Global DH", to be held at Kansai University, Osaka, Japan (August  
29-31, 2019). Please submit abstracts via the open conference  
system [17] by MAY 7, 2019.

Call for articles: Submissions for de Gruyter’s /Open Theology/ with a  
focus on "Digital Humanities in Biblical Studies and Theology"[18] are  
due MAY 31, 2019.

Reviews of digital tools and environments for the journal /RIDE/ are  
due MAY 31, 2019. For more information please see[19].

Call for papers for a conference 2018 issue (13) of the JTEI. Any  
articles connected with papers, posters, demonstrations delivered  
during the conference can be handed in. Submissions are due JUNE 1,  
2019.  The full CfP is here[20]. 

The DCMI Annual Conference[21] in 2019 will be hosted by the Korean  
National Library in Seoul from SEPTEMBER 23-26, 2019. Further details  
and the call for participation will follow soon!

Routledge launches a NEW BOOK SERIES, Routledge Studies in  
Archives[22], edited by James Lowry and ACCEPTING PROPOSALS related to  
current research in records and archives studies.

  SUMMER SCHOOLS

The Summer School Series on Methods for Computational Social  
Science[24] will take place from July 22 to 27, 2019 in Berlin. The  
deadline for applications is MARCH 13, 2019.

The 10th European Summer University in Digital Humanities[25] will  
take place from 23 July to 2 August, 2019 in Leipzig. The application  
phase will begin on March 10, 2019.

  CONFERENCE UPDATES

Registration is now open[26] for the Digital Editions, Start to Finish  
Spring 2019, a programming course for Humanists, at Texas A&M  
University. Beginning is JANUARY 25, 2019.

The 2019 conference of the association Digital Humanities in Nordic  
Countries[27] will be held in COPENHAGEN MARCH 6–8, 2019. The  
registration website[28] is now online!

The 5th year of Guelph Summer Workshops[29] is open for  
registration[30]. Save the dates of MAY 7-10, 2019.

Registration is now open for the Humanities Intensive Learning and  
Teaching[31] (HILT) conference in Indianapolis from JUNE 3-7, 2019.

JOBS/SCHOLARSHIPS

The cluster of excellence „Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a  
Global Perspective“ is hiring a postdoc[32] and an IT researcher[33].  
The deadline for both is FEBRUARY 28, 2019.

The Herzog August Bibliothek (Wolfenbüttel, Germany) is looking for a  
project coordinator[34]. The deadline for applications is MARCH 1, 2019.

The DH project "hermA" (University of Hamburg) is hiring a research  
fellow[35] for its subproject "Gender and Illness". The deadline for  
applications is MARCH 1, 2019.

The Seminar für Sprachwissenschaft, Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft und  
Computerlinguistik at the University of Tübingen is hiring two

MARCH 31, 2019.
