Job Opening: PhD Student (f/m/d) in uncertainty visualization for molecular data, illustrative rendering, and immersive analytics (fully funded: TV-L 13, 100%);
Project: IVUD - Development and Evaluation of Illustrative Visualization of Uncertainty and Dynamics in Biomolecular Data;
Location: Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences (HFT Stuttgart), Germany
We are looking for a motivated PhD student / doctoral researcher (f/m/d) for the DFG-funded project "Development and Evaluation of Illustrative Visualization of Uncertainty and Dynamics in Biomolecular Data" (IVUD). It is a collaborative research project between HFT Stuttgart and the University of Leipzig. The goal of this project is to develop and empirically evaluate novel visualizations for biomolecular simulations that display the uncertainty in the data through illustrative rendering. This includes research in scientific visualization, computer graphics, and immersive analytics (visualization in virtual reality).
Your Tasks:
* Design and development of new visualization methods for molecular datasets with inherent uncertainty (e.g., molecular dynamics simulations)
* Planning, organizing, and conducting empirical user studies
* Publishing and presenting research results at scientific conferences and in academic journals (e.g., at project workshops, symposia, and international conferences)
Your Profile
* A successfully completed university degree (Master's or university diploma), preferably in computer science or a related field (e.g., bioinformatics, media informatics)
* Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming
* Knowledge of visualization or computer graphics is a plus
* Prior knowledge of (molecular) biology is not required
* Good written and spoken English skills, German skills are a plus
* Organizational skills, ability to work in a team, initiative, and a sense of responsibility
