The Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute at the University of Utah invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher for interdisciplinary work in uncertainty and/or multifield visualization. The successful candidate will perform research in uncertainty and/or multifield visualization and work closely with SCI Institute researchers and external collaborators on compelling problems in science and engineering.

Given that there are few students who have expertise in uncertainty and multifield visualization, we are happy to consider applicants who have a strong visualization background who is interested in pursuing research in these areas.

The SCI Institute is seeking a highly talented and committed individual with a demonstrated ability to work well with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the Institute's world-class research and software development in scientific visualization and have the opportunity to develop their research, publication, and presentation skills under mentorship from established faculty investigators.

Non-Technical Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory. A willingness to collaborate in a highly diverse, multi-disciplinary environment is also essential.

Start date: Immediate.

FTE: 1.0

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000

The initial appointment will be for a one-year period, with the possibility of an extension based upon performance and availability of funding.

Qualifications

   * Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field
   * Expert knowledge in scientific visualization, particularly with applications to uncertainty and/or multifield visualization.
   * Strong mathematical skills/knowledge.
   * Advanced programming skills in C++, OpenGL, and scripting languages
   * Experience with large software development projects is a plus
