The Faculty of Science<https://science.uoit.ca/index.php> at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Computer Science. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related field or have completed all of the requirements of their PhD by the date of appointment. The preferred areas of expertise to strengthen and complement our existing research programs are: graphics, digital media and HCI; programming languages and compilers; software development and analysis; systems (e.g., cloud computing, distributed, parallel, embedded and operating systems). We will, however, consider applicants in all areas of Computer Science who have demonstrated exceptional research and teaching potential.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a successful and innovative externally-funded research program which supports peer-reviewed publications, training of graduate students at both masters and PhD level, and academic and industrial collaborations. The candidate will also be responsible for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and contributing to the continued development of these programs. Given UOIT's commitment to providing a technology-enhanced learning environment, we seek individuals who are interested to explore and develop effective pedagogical applications of technology in Computer Science education.
The Faculty of Science at UOIT is non-departmental and embraces interdisciplinary collaboration. The Computer Science group, within the Faculty of Science, offers a vibrant and dynamic academic environment with a strong track record of research impact. The Computer Science BSc program includes specializations in Digital Media and Data Science as well as a co-op option. The Computer Science MSc and PhD are cross-Faculty programs supported by 20+ research faculty, including three Canada Research Chairs. The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.
UOIT is one of Canada's newest public, research universities, with over 10,000 students at all levels of study. It is located in Oshawa, Ontario (population of approximately 160,000) and easily accessible from Toronto, Ontario by car and transit.
