The Big Data Visual Analytics in Life Sciences group at the Department of Computer Science and the Center for Bioinformatics of the Eberhard Karls University of Tuebingen is offering a PhD Position to be filled at the earliest possible date. The position is initially temporary for up to three years and offers a very competitive salary (salary level: E 13 TV-L).

The PhD research is embedded in the project "Visual Analytics of Protein-Ligand Interactions", which is a joint project between University of Tuebingen and Ulm University in Germany and Masaryk University in Czech Republic. The goal of this project is to develop novel visualizations for simulations of biological molecules. It offers great opportunities for high-quality research in the fields of Scientific Visualization, Molecular Graphics, Visual Analytics, and Immersive Analytics with the perspective on interdisciplinary research in structural biology.

Applicants are expected to have a M.Sc. or equivalent in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field, which will allow them to pursue doctoral studies in computer sciences at the University of Tuebingen. Good programming skills in C/C++ and previous knowledge in visualization and computer graphics are advantageous. Experience in molecular graphics, CUDA, or development using the Unity game engine is a plus.
