The Department of Computer Science at University of Maryland, College Park,
is looking for outstanding candidates for tenured/tenure-track faculty at
all levels in perceptual computing, including virtual and augmented
reality. Follow this link to the official job posting https://ejobs.umd.edu/
postings/54901 and feel free to distribute this announcement widely.

Our department (http://www.cs.umd.edu), in conjunction with the Institute
for Advanced Computer Studies (http://umiacs.umd.edu), has established a
vibrant tradition of excellence in a number of areas including computer
vision, natural language processing, high-performance computing, machine
learning, computational biology, robotics, and computational audition. Now,
catalyzed by a $38M gift from co-founders of Oculus VR, Brendan Iribe and
Michael Antonov, and others, with an additional investment of well over a
$100M from the state of Maryland, we are looking to rapidly emerge as the
world-wide leader in virtual and augmented reality. University of Maryland
has recently hired several senior faculty in these areas and will continue
to grow. The current faculty has close ties with industry and local
organizations. More than 50 partner companies and organizations are
participating in the soon to be established MAVRIC center, which is focused
on immersive media research and development.

In addition, we also encourage students to apply to our PhD programs and
for postdoc positions in these areas. The Department of Computer Science at
the University of Maryland is consistently ranked among the top-15
nationally. It is one of the largest departments in the country, with
approximately 50 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty covering a wide
variety of research areas and over 200 doctoral students drawn from top
undergraduate programs nationally and internationally. In 2018 the
department is slated to occupy its new state-of-the-art facility, the
Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Innovation, which is
currently under construction. The University of Maryland, College Park,
was founded in 1856 and is the flagship institution in the University
System of Maryland. Its 1,250 acre College Park campus is minutes away
from Washington, D.C., the nexus of the nation’s legislative, executive,
and judicial centers. This unique proximity to business and technology
leaders, federal departments and agencies, and a myriad of research
organizations, embassies, think tanks, cultural centers, and non-profit
organizations offers unique opportunities for engagement for faculty and
students.
