[Ieee_vis] Invitation to apply for open positions on the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee

The IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee (VGTC) is the
governance body that oversees and sponsors all IEEE visualization and
virtual reality conferences including VIS, VR, 3DUI, ISMAR, Pacific Vis,
and EuroVis (as a co-sponsor). The VGTC has open positions.

The VGTC is the main interface for these research communities with the IEEE
Computer Society (CS), and also maintains close ties with the publications
TVCG (Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics) and CG&A
(Computer Graphics and Applications).

The VGTC fulfills many important roles including: approval and oversight of
conferences, symposia, and workshops; oversight of publications through
interactions with the IEEE CS Publications Board; getting involved in
policy and budget decisions at the IEEE CS-level that affect the research
community; and awarding the IEEE VGTC Career and Technical Achievement
Awards.

There are a number of open volunteer service positions on the VGTC. Any
member of the VGTC community is welcome to apply. Previous or current
experience at the conference management or conference executive committee
level is a plus. Our current open positions are:

International Liaison - Lead for supporting the VGTC's international
presence. Work with existing and new non-IEEE visualization, computer
graphics and virtual reality conferences around the world to build
effective collaborations including co-sponsoring arrangements.

Ethics Officer - Lead for addressing ethics issue that arise in the VGTC
community. Follow IEEE procedure for addressing concerns in concert with
conference committees, executive committees, editors and IEEE personnel.

Publications Chair - Lead for VGTC policy on publications. Develop
efficient publication workflows for all VGTC conferences and interface with
IEEE CS Publications Board.

Industrial Relations Chair - Lead for VGTC relations to the visualization,
computer graphics and virtual reality industrial community. Work with VGTC
conferences to understand and promote best industry outreach practices.

Communication Chair (position listed as Secretary in charter) -  Lead for
VGTC communication to the community. Record and disseminate notes on VGTC
activities, update web site content, develop community mailing lists, and
help increase VGTC membership.
