[Ieee_vis] VEC is seeking committee nominations

Call for Papers - VGTC cfp at vgtc.org
Mon Feb 25 18:21:47 CET 2019

Dear VIS Community -

The VIS Executive Committee (VEC) is currently forming a committee to
develop a proposal aimed at attracting and retaining visualization
practitioners to the VIS conference through new formats and participation
mechanisms that focus on their needs. This committee will have the
opportunity to significantly expand the scope and breadth of content at VIS
in ways that compliment existing conferences.

*We are seeking nominations of people to serve on this committee.*

Members of the committee will be expected to participate in weekly meetings
and to conduct follow-up homework between the meetings for the duration of
approximately five months, reporting back to the VEC in the summer of 2019.
Additionally, the committee will be tasked with working in an open and
transparent way, including releasing progress reports on a regular basis to
the community and soliciting feedback on ideas as they evolve. The
committee will be kept small to facilitate agility and consensus but we
expect it to consult widely with the VEC, the Vis In Practice chairs, the
wider VIS community and practitioners who are not yet part of the VIS
community. Ideally, the committee will contain a diverse group of those who
practice visualization.

The formation of this committee is based on a priority recommendation from
the VIS Restructuring Committee Report (see pg. 11 of the
http://ieeevis.org/governance/1810-Restructuring-Recommendations.pdf).

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for consideration,
please email Lisa Avila at vec_chair at ieeevis.org with the name of the
nominee and a brief description of the nominee’s most important
qualifications for this committee.

*Nomination must be received by Monday, March 4th.*

Regards,
Lisa Avila
VEC Chair
