[Ieee_vis] CALL- IEEE VGTC VR/AR Awards nominations

The IEEE VGTC Technical Awards Committee for Virtual and Augmented Reality
invites nominations for the 2019 Virtual / Augmented Reality Technical
Achievement and Career Awards.  The awards will be presented in the opening
session of the 2019 IEEE VR Conference on March 25 in Osaka, Japan.
Nominations may be brief, and must be received by FEB 10, 2019. Send
nominations to Henry Fuchs (chair) at vgtc-vr-awards at vgtc.org.  Details on
the nomination procedure can be found at

The IEEE VGTC Virtual / Augmented Reality Career Award was established in
2005.  It is given every year to an individual to honor that person’s
lifetime contribution to virtual / augmented reality. Previous recipients
of the award are Mark Bolas, Frederick P. Brooks, Jr., Grigore Burdea,
Steven K. Feiner, Henry Fuchs, Thomas A. Furness III,  Michitaka Hirose,
Larry F. Hodges, Jaron Lanier, Bowen Loftin, Lawrence J. Rosenblum, Mel
Slater, and Susumu Tachi.

The IEEE VGTC Virtual / Augmented Reality Achievement Award was also
established in 2005. It is given every year to recognize an individual for
seminal technical achievement in virtual / augmented reality. Previous
recipients of the award are Michael Antonov, Mark Billinghurst, Mark Bolas,
Doug Bowman, Carolina Cruz-Neira, Thomas A. DeFanti, Bernd Fröhlich,
Brendan Iribe, Hirokazu Kato, Ming C. Lin, Palmer Luckey, Daniel J. Sandin,
Dieter Schmalstieg, Kay Stanney, Anthony Steed, and Gregory F. Welch.
