Call for Papers - VGTC cfp at vgtc.org
Mon Apr 16 17:41:17 CEST 2018

*CALL FOR PARTICIPATIONIEEE VIS 2018 is the premier forum for advances in
visualization. The event-packed week brings together researchers and
practitioners from academia, government, and industry to explore their
shared interests in tools, techniques, and technology. We invite you to
participate in IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology (VAST), IEEE
Information Visualization (InfoVis), and IEEE Scientific Visualization
(SciVis) by sharing your research, insights, experience, and enthusiasm. We
solicit Workshops, Tutorials, Doctoral Colloquium, and Poster submissions
for IEEE VIS 2018 in Berlin, Germany.===============New Submission
Record===============The submission deadlines for VAST, InfoVis and SciVis
have passed and we are happy to inform you that in total 476 full papers
were submitted. This is a new all-time VIS submission record!!! Thank you
for submitting your best work to the VIS main conferences. The review
process is on its way.For details, visit

===============VAST Challenge 2018===============Submission deadline: July
13, 2018The Visual Analytics Science and Technology (VAST) Challenge is an
annual contest with the goal of advancing the field of visual analytics
through competition. The VAST Challenge is designed to help researchers
understand how their software would be used in a novel analytic task and
determine if their data transformations, visualizations, and interactions
would be beneficial for particular analytic tasks. VAST Challenge problems
provide researchers with realistic data sets and questions for evaluating
their software, as well as an opportunity to advance the field by solving
more complex problems. This year, we return to the Boonsong Lekagul
Wildlife Preserve scenario from 2017, as complications from last year’s
situation have arisen, providing new opportunities to apply visual
analytics (and other data analytic) skills. Look for mini-challenge data
to become available throughout the month of April. For details, visit

2018===============Submission deadline: July 31, 2018The SciVis contest is
an annual contest providing scientific datasets for visualization and data
analysis. This year an ensemble of asteroid impacts into deep ocean water
designed to study asteroid generated tsunami (AGT) is provided. These data
sets provide an opportunity for visualization researchers to apply their
techniques and produce visually stunning and informative imagery to provide
domain specialist with a deeper understanding of their data. The winning
submission will be awarded with the opportunity of a full journal article.
All approved submissions will be able to present their work as a
presentation and during the poster session. For details, visit:

design===============Submission deadline: June 15, 2018Back for the third
year, Student Volunteers can design the T-Shirt they will receive at the
conference! In order to participate in the contest, you need to be eligible
to be a Student Volunteer at VIS this year and submit a T-Shirt design
before the June 15 deadline. The winner will automatically be selected to
be a Student Volunteer on top of being acknowledged for designing the
T-Shirt. For details, visit www.vissv.org/shirtcontest.html

Reminder===============Submission deadline: April 30, 2018Tutorials are
intended to cover a wide selection of topics related to visualization and
provide background on techniques, tools and application domains relevant
for visualization. Submissions consist of a three-page outline of your
proposed tutorial. Successful proposals will receive up to 2 complimentary
full week conference registrations for tutorial presenters. For details,
