The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST -
https://www.nist.gov) is a US Federal physical science laboratory
supporting US industrial competitiveness through fundamental metrology
in many diverse areas including physical measurement, material
measurement, and metrology for engineering, manufacturing, and
information technology.
The High Performance Computing and Visualization Group (HPCVG) at NIST
develops novel algorithms and implementations for parallel and
distributed computation and also creates innovative techniques for
immersive scientific visualization in a variety of local and distributed
hardware environments. We are specifically looking for postdoctoral and
student researchers interested in areas such as Immersive and In-situ
Visualization, Parallel Computing, and Analytics (including Machine
Learning).
A Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) was recently announced for a new
program called "Professional Research Experience Program" (PREP) which
is designed to reduce the administrative overhead involved in funding
postdoctoral and student and other researchers at universities that
participate in the program.
Applications are due soon - no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time,
Friday, August 4, 2017. This program will be a university-level
agreement, and as such, should be coordinated by the university and not
within a single department. More information is available at:

and

The NIST contact is Dr. Brandi Toliver (brandi.toliver at nist.gov, 301 975
2371). She will be in charge of running the PREP program here at NIST.
