*TUTORIALS AND PANELS SURVEY*

==============

If you plan to attend IEEE VIS 2017, we would like to hear your suggestions
of tutorial and panel topics (new or previously offered) you would you like
to see this year. This survey will help organizers plan for tutorial and
panel offerings this year and in the future.

*Tutorials*

===============

Submission deadline: April 24, 2017

Tutorials are intended to cover a wide selection of topics related to
visualization and provide background on techniques, tools and application
domains relevant for visualization. Submissions consist of a three-page
outline of your proposed tutorial.

For details, visit
http://ieeevis.org/year/2017/info/call-participation/tutorials

*Panels*

===============

Submission deadline: June 15, 2017

Panels address important and/or controversial applications and issues in
visualization today. In particular, we invite topics in connection with
interesting application fields. Panels bringing together potential users of
visualization technology (e.g., practitioners and industry professionals)
and leading researchers, or panels consisting of experts in fields that
might teach us important concepts (e.g., perceptual psychology, visual
design, color theory, user-interface design) are welcome.

*Posters*

===============

Submission deadline: June 16, 2017

The poster program offers a timely venue to present and discuss new
visualization research through a forum that encourages graphical
presentation, demonstration and active engagement with IEEE VIS
participants. Submissions consist of a two-page summary of your work.
Interactive poster sessions will provide a forum for presenting your work
and discussing new ideas with your peers. Live demos and videos are
encouraged. Posters will be displayed throughout IEEE VIS and the summary
will be published in the electronic conference proceedings.

*Doctoral Colloquium*====================
Submission deadline: May 15, 2017

The doctoral colloquium offers a forum for PhD Students to present their
proposed dissertation work and receive feedback from leading senior
visualization researchers. The colloquium will support community-building
by connecting beginning and advanced researchers. We invite contributions
from the visual analytics, information visualization, and scientific
visualization student communities. The DC call is open to all PhD students,
regardless of whether they are presenting research work at the main
conference or not. Preference will be given to students who will gain most
from the experience, meaning students who are in the process of formulating
their dissertation topic or who have just formulated a dissertation topic.

*VAHC 2017* (8th Workshop on Visual Analytics in Healthcare)

====================

Submission deadline: May 1st, 2017

The primary objective of the annual workshop is to bring together medical
experts, leading scientists, and visionaries to discuss visualization
techniques that can be applied to healthcare data and discuss the areas of
healthcare that need more attention from the visualization and visual data
mining communities. The workshop will allow participants to showcase their
ongoing work on visual analytics of healthcare-related data through podium,
posters, or demo presentations as well as to learn more about emerging
techniques, software applications, and datasets.

*Symposium on Visualization in Data Science (VDS)*

====================

Submission deadline: July 14, 2017

Visualization is an integral part of data science, and essential to enable
sophisticated analysis of data. After two highly successful events, the
third Symposium on Visualization in Data Science (VDS) will again be held
at IEEE VIS 2017. VDS will bring together domain scientists and methods
researchers (including visualization, usability and HCI, data management,
statistics, machine learning, and software engineering) to discuss common
interests, talk about practical issues, and identify open research problems
in visualization in data science. We solicit contributions in the form of
papers and abstracts / talks. Extended versions of selected papers will
appear in the IEEE Transactions on Big Data.

*Symposium on Visualization for Cyber Security (VizSec)*

====================

Submission deadline: August 8, 2017

VizSec explores effective and scalable visual interfaces for security
domains such as network security, computer forensics, reverse engineering,
insider threat detection, cryptography, privacy, user assisted attacks
prevention, compliance management, wireless security, secure coding, and
penetration testing. We are soliciting full papers describing novel
contributions in security visualization, short papers describing practical
applications, and poster abstracts. If you do not have real-world data to
demonstrate your visualization, you may be interested in looking at the
VizSec Data Sets page. The VizSec 2017 proceedings will be published by
IEEE.

*The 7th IEEE Symposium on Large Data Analysis and Visualization (LDAV)*

====================

Submission deadline: June 16, 2017

Modern large-scale scientific simulations, sensor networks, and experiments
are generating enormous datasets, with some projects approaching the
multiple exabyte range in the near term. Managing and analyzing large
datasets to generate insights is critical for a variety of disciplines
including climate science, nuclear physics, security, materials design,
transportation, and urban planning. The tools and approaches needed to
mine, analyze, and visualize data at extreme scales can be fully realized
only if there are end-to-end solutions, which demands collective,
interdisciplinary efforts. The 7th IEEE Large Scale Data Analysis and
Visualization (LDAV) symposium, to be held in conjunction with IEEE VIS
2017, is specifically targeting methodological innovation, algorithmic
foundations, and possible end-to-end solutions. The LDAV symposium will
bring together domain scientists, data analysts, visualization researchers,
and users to foster common ground for solving both near- and long-term
problems.
