The International SUMMER SCHOOL on Visual Computing is aimed at you if
you are a graduate student, PhD candidate, or junior scientist working
in any of the following research areas

- Visual Perception & Cognition
- Image Data Management
- Computer Vision
- Human Computer Interaction
- Visualization & Visual Analytics

The week-long SUMMER SCHOOL features a diverse scientific program that
will introduce you to the state of the art in Visual Computing and
provide a platform to present and discuss your research. The program
includes lectures from international speakers, research talks by
established scientists, demos and technical presentations of
application-driven research projects, how-to sessions on thesis writing,
the opportunity to give a talk about your research, and a poster session
to showcase your results. Use this chance to expand your knowledge on
Visual Computing, to receive expert feedback on your research, to
establish contacts and grow your professional network, and to get your
research reviewed and published as a paper in the SUMMER SCHOOL proceedings.

Invited Tutorial Speakers:

- Bernice Rogowitz, PhD, Visual Perspectives Research & Consulting, USA
- Prof. Dr. Peter Baumann, Jacobs University Bremen, Germany
- Dr. Anne Jordt, GEOMAR Helmholtz Research Centre Kiel, Germany
- Lect. Nicolai Marquardt, PhD, University College London, England
- Prof. Dr. Marc Streit, Johannes-Kepler-University Linz, Austria

To attend, there are three simple steps:

/Before the SUMMER SCHOOL/ - You can simply apply by submitting a short
abstract of your research topic (max. 1 page) by July 24, 2015 at
http://igd-r.de/summerschool. You will be notified if your application
is accepted no later than July 27, 2015. The number of participants is
limited to 40 researchers.

/During the SUMMER SCHOOL/ - Bring a poster on your research topic and
prepare a short talk about it (max. 15 min). You are invited to bring an
interactive demo - e.g., a software or hardware prototype - to accompany
your poster and your talk.

/After the SUMMER SCHOOL/ - Submit an original research paper (max. 10
pages) by September 21, 2015 and revise it according to the reviewer
comments by October 18, 2015. Final acceptance of your revised paper
depends on how well the reviews have been addressed. The proceedings are
expected to be online in November 2015 and to be shipped in printed form
to the participants in December 2015.

Costs: Attending the SUMMER SCHOOL and publishing a paper in the
proceedings is free of charge - which means, you pay for your travels
and accommodation, and we pay for your participation.

Venue: The city of Rostock is located in the North-East of Germany. It
was founded in 1218 and is a beautiful old Hanseatic town. Its sandy
beaches are the broadest on the German Baltic coast and invite for sun
bathing, swimming, and beach volleyball.
