[Ieee_vis] [deadline extended] CFP for NATO Symposium and Workshop on Visual Analytics

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Science and Technology Organization (STO) is holding a symposium and workshop on visual analytics at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Swindon, Wiltshire in the United Kingdom. They will be held on October 28 - 31, 2013.


Example topics in visual analytics include but are not limited to:
Analytical reasoning
Cognitive processes
Counter IED operations
Cyber operations
Networks
Health safety and health services delivery
Bio-terrorism
All-source intelligence
Humanitarian operations
User-selectable complexity
Information trails
Information abstraction
Display characteristics affecting visual analytics
Experimental measures
System safety and monitoring
Evaluation and use cases
Spatio-temporal techniques
Mathematical foundations of data transformations
Uncertainty



For those wishing to submit a paper, a mandatory maximum two-page extended abstract of proposed papers are due June 1, 2013. For authors from the United States the abstracts are due May 21, 2013.  All information on the symposium and submission process can be found in the full CFP at http://www.vacommunity.org/NATO-VA-Symposium_2013. All presented papers will be published as part of the official NATO proceedings.



Immediately following-on from this Symposium, there will be a Workshop which will consist of focused discussions to augment and refine understanding of themes derived from the work of this Symposium.  Most workshop participants will have attended the Symposium but there is a separate workshop enrolment form and CFP at http://www.vacommunity.org/NATO-VA-Workshop_2013. Attendance to the workshop is conditional upon provision of a short note (a maximum of 500 words) of technical interests and/or problems for working group discussion.
