[Ieee_vis] 2012 VisWeek Workshop on Visual Analytics in Healthcare - Call for Participation

[Visual Analytics Healthcare]

You are invited to participate in the 2012 VisWeek Workshop on Visual
Analytics in Healthcare (VAHC) on Wed. Oct. 17th at 2pm.  The VAHC
workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to learn more
about Open Data initiatives and meet with a program officer involved
in visual data mining funding opportunities.  In addition, the
workshop program includes eight (8) paper presentations describing new
and emerging visual analytics research in the healthcare domain.


KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
   (1) Will Pugh, Chief Technology Officer of Socrata will speak about
the different datasets that federal, state, and local governments have
recently released to encourage the analysis and exploration of complex
data.  Socrata  is one of the main companies that promotes "Open Data"
and has been involved in initiatives such as data.medicare.gov,
data.gov, data.nola.gov, nyc.gov/data, and many others.

   (2) Rick Barnhill, Deputy Chief & Program Manager for Clinical
Informatics will talk about funding opportunities and discuss some of
the funded projects related to visual analytics in healthcare that
TATRC & US Army have recently awarded.  He will discuss the recently
awarded grants about Novel Presentation of Health Related Data
(http://goo.gl/ZNpYU) as well as other fundings opportunities such as
