[Ieee_vis] IEEE VGTC VR Award 2012 - nomination request

Virtual and Augmented Reality Community Members,

 The IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee (vgtc) has established two annual awards in Virtual Reality. The Virtual Reality Career Award is given to an individual to honor that person's lifetime contribution to virtual and augmented reality. Past recipients of the Virtual Reality Career Award include Frederick P. Brooks, Jr., Jaron Lanier, Bowen Loftin, Susumu Tachi, Larry F. Hodges, and Mel Slater.

The Virtual Reality Technical Achievement Award is given every year to recognize an individual for a seminal technical achievement in virtual and augmented reality.  Past recipients of the Virtual Reality Technical Achievement Award include Ming C. Lin, Hirokazu Kato, Bernd Fröhlich, Carolina Cruz-Neira, Thomas A. DeFanti, Daniel J. Sandin, Kay Stanney, and Mark T. Bolas.

Nominations for these awards for 2012 are now being solicited. Nominations should be submitted via email to   ari at cs.stonybrook.edu no later than Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Awards nominations should include the name and contact information of the person being nominated, and a description of why the nominee should be considered.
