[afgn] 2 postdoc positions in Bioinformatics/Genomics/Algorithmic Genomics to fill within the Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences CEPLAS

We are seeking two qualified postdocs in the field of “Bioinformatics/ Genomics/ Algorithmic Genomics”who are keen to work on the following project(s):

“GeneCOMPLETE”: Functional annotation will be used to allow complete classification of plant genes. The goal is to directly identify plant gene sub-families in the genome, to enable studying evolutionary aspects and fast full genome comparisons using machine learning and/or evolutionary approaches.

“Comprehensive and efficient identification of genomic differences from whole-genome alignments“. Efficient whole-genome alignment (WGA) solutions already exist but computational approaches that allow annotation of all genomic differences are lacking. The goal of the project is to develop algorithms for genome-wide structural rearrangement identification based on WGAs.

Both positions are available as of now and will be funded for three years in the framework of the Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences (CEPLAS), which offers an international, interdisciplinary research environment and comprehensive training program.
