*Postdoctoral researcher position at ETH-Zurich*
**
*Phospholipid-dependent networks controlling vascular development*
**
The vascular development group of Antia Rodriguez-Villalon at ETH-Zurich (Switzerland) is recruiting
one postdoctoral researcher in the frame of a project addressed to investigate the molecular
mechanisms regulating phloem formation in /Arabidopsis thaliana/ roots. To become conductive
elements, phloem cells undergo a programmed cell death-like process by which they get rid of the
majority of their organelles, including their nucleus. Yet, the genes responsible for the
orchestration of such complex process remain unclear. Recent findings have demonstrated the
importance of phosphoinositides-a group of membrane signaling compounds- in controlling such
process. Thus, the selected postdoc candidate will investigate phosphoinositide down-stream targets
regulating phloem formation by taking advantage of genetic and molecular tools already generated in
the lab.
We are looking for a strongly motivated candidate to join our international team, ideally with a
strong plant physiology and molecular biology background. Additional experience in confocal
microscopy is highly desirable. The candidate should be intellectually independent, experimentally
accurate and have good writing and communication skills in English. This position is immediately
available, with preferable starting date on May 2016. Please send your application including your
CV, list of publications, motivation letter explaining your interest in the position and contact
information of two references to Antia Rodriguez-Villalon (antiar at ethz.ch <mailto:antiar at ethz.ch>).
