<p>This lecture is devoted to the analysis of the work of memory in<span> </span><strong
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;">the cultural
heritage of Yur Mezhenko</strong>, who was one of the leading
Ukrainian literary critics and theorists of the ‘revolutionary’
1920s, and the founder and head of the National Library of
Ukraine. </p>
<p>His<span> </span><strong
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;">unpublished diary
entries</strong><span> </span>for 1919-1926, then for the 1940s
and 1950s, are analyzed in terms of how specific textual
strategies of<span> </span><strong
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;">constructing and
overcoming the self/other opposition</strong><span> </span>are
developed, as well as strategies of recalling the traumatic past
and imagining the future, which root identity in time, and
strategies of choosing 'one's own place' in a geographical and
symbolic sense. Yur Mezhenko's<span> </span><i
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-style: italic;">Shevchenkiana<span> </span></i>collection
is also considered as a performative space and a kind of metonymy
of culture, which refers both to the community and to the figure
of the collector himself, tells a story about them, and maintains
cultural identity in often contradictory or adverse conditions.</p>

<p>Der<span> </span><strong

Bestsellerautor Steffen Dobbert</strong><span> </span>ist ein
profilierter Kenner der Ukraine. Seine zahlreichen Recherchereisen
haben ihn in verschiedene Teile des Lands geführt. Während des
turbulenten Jahreswechsel 2013/14 berichtete er vom Majdan über
die ukrainische Revolution der Würde. In seinem Buch<span> </span><i
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-style: italic;">Ukraine
Verstehen</i><span> </span>(2022) gibt er einen exzellenten<span> </span><strong
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;">Überblick über
die Geschichte, Politik und Freiheitskampf der ukrainischen
Nation</strong>. Im gemeinsam mit Ulrich Thiele verfassten
Bestseller<span> </span><i
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-style: italic;">Nord Stream.
Wie Deutschland Putins Krieg bezahlt</i><span> </span>(2025)
deckt Steffen Dobbert die Kumpanei der deutschen Moskau Connection
mit der russischen Wirtschaft und Politik auf. Derzeit
interessiert sich Steffen Dobbert für die vielfältigen
deutsch-ukrainischen Beziehungen. Von deren Geschichte und
Bedeutung ist in Deutschland noch viel zu wenig bekannt.</p>
<p>In seinem Vortrag geht Steffen Dobbert der<span> </span><strong
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;">Wirkkraft
historischer Narrative</strong><span> </span>nach. Vor dem
Hintergrund des aktuellen Geschehens mit seiner hektischen Abfolge
von Gesprächsrunden, Gipfeltreffen und „Friedensplänen“ greift er
auch drängende Themen unser vom Krieg geprägten Gegenwart auf und
fragt nach der<span> </span><strong
style="box-sizing: inherit; font-weight: 700;">politischen
Verantwortung</strong>, der sich die deutsche und ukrainische
Gesellschaft zu stellen haben.</p>
