<p class="gmail-">We’re excited to announce a new <strong>tenure-track Assistant Professorship (with Tenure Track to Full Professor (W3))</strong> in <strong>Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI)</strong> at <strong>Ulm University</strong>, and we would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word!</p>
<p class="gmail-">This position focuses on foundational and methodological research in XAI. Selected research topics of interest include:</p>
<ul>
<li class="gmail-">
<p class="gmail-">Explainability of black-box models (e.g., neural networks)</p>
</li>
<li class="gmail-">
<p class="gmail-">Interpretability of generative AI models</p>
</li>
<li class="gmail-">
<p class="gmail-">Knowledge integration and extraction in AI systems</p></li></ul>We’re looking for candidates with a strong international research profile, ideally with links to medical AI, as the position connects closely to the DFG-funded research training group <strong>KEMAI – Knowledge Infusion and Extraction for Explainable Medical AI</strong> (<a href="http://kemai.uni-ulm.de">kemai.uni-ulm.de</a>).<br>
<p class="gmail-">The position offers a rich research environment both within the university (e.g., profile area <em>From Data to Knowledge</em>) and in collaboration with external institutions such as the DLR Institute for Secure AI and the Science Park Ulm.</p>
<p class="gmail-">In teaching, the professorship will support our bachelor's and master's programs in Computer Science, with a particular focus on <em>Artificial Intelligence</em> and <em>Cognitive Systems</em>.</p>
<p class="gmail-">This is a <strong>W1 tenure-track position</strong>, typically for six years, with the opportunity for promotion to a tenured <strong>W3 full professorship</strong> following a successful evaluation.</p>
