<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The Informatics Institute at the University of Amsterdam is offering a PhD position to develop research on the visualization of topic threads in news data. The researcher will develop new algorithms for topic thread discovery
in large multimodal data sets (images, text, video, and their metadata), use these algorithms as the basis for interactive topic thread visualization and bring them together in a prototype for multimodal topic thread exploration in the domain of investigative
journalism. Methodologies will include deep learning, multimedia analytics, multimedia mining, and information visualization. This position is one of 15 Multidisciplinary PhD Positions in Digital and Data Journalism together forming the European Marie-Curie
