<font size="2" face="sans-serif"> </font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">The overall mission of the ISC department is to use computer science to ease the understanding of complex big data coming from multiple and heterogeneous sources by primarily using visual representations accessed via any type of devices in various contexts of use. Visual Analytics has been identified by ISC as a strategic topic for the years to come and is currently strengthening its team in this domain. Research projects in the ISC department cover a complete scope from fundamental research (e.g. PhD theses) to applied research in cooperation with public or private partners. Among others, the team has produced the visualization software called Calluna (see www.calluna.lu) illustrating its ability to imagine innovative concepts and to transform them into usable tools. Team members are coming from various countries and have complementary cultures, skills and hobbies, contributing to a dynamic, result-oriented and cooperative mind-set.</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif"> </font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">The successful candidate will have to:</font><br>
<br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Propose, set up and coordinate R&D projects in the domains covered by the mission of ISC;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Write and submit project proposals to international or national calls (e.g. EU Calls);</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Actively participate in the execution of the R&D projects;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Establish contacts and interact with private companies in view of initiating new collaborations, sustaining existing ones and valorizing the developments performed within the research projects;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Establish contacts and interact with academic partners and research labs in view of initiating new collaborations and sustaining existing ones;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Communicate on the generated scientific results (conferences, scientific publications, symposiums…);</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Write scientific and technical reports and documents.</font><br>

<font size="2" face="sans-serif">===Profile===</font><br>
<br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Candidates shall hold a PhD in Computer Sciences or Information Technology, preferably in visual analytics or a closely related field;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Proven scientific and/or industrial experience in visual analytics (min. 3 years of relevant experience after PHD);</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Aptitude for project management in an applied research group ;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Aptitude for grant writing (cf. submission of scientific project proposals in competitive calls) and project acquisition with economic partners;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Capability to publish scientific results in international journals and/or conferences;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with a mandatory team-spirit;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set timelines;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team;</font><br>
<font size="2" face="sans-serif">- The candidate must be fluent in English (scientific exchanges) and ideally also in French (administrative language), any additional language will be considered as an advantage.</font><br>
