[Ieee_vis_open_positions] Pre-Advertisement of Ph.D. and PostDoc positions in Sweden in the areas of Information Visualization and Artificial Intelligence

 The Department of Computer Science and Media Technology at Linnaeus
University is pre-advertising two positions, one for a Ph.D. student and
one for a Postdoc. The work aims to develop science in Visual Analytics, on
the intersection of Information Visualization and Artificial Intelligence
fields. The candidate will work with one or more of the following areas:
active learning, explainable AI (XAI), unsupervised learning (i.e.
dimensionality reduction, clustering), multidimensional/network
visualization, human-in-the-loop AI, time series analysis and
spatio-temporal data mining. Possible application domains are (but not
limited to) healthcare, bioinformatics, maritime data, forestry, and others.

*Requirements*: The candidate must have completed a Master's degree (for
the Ph.D. position) or a Ph.D. (for the PostDoc position) in Computer
Science (or another related and relevant area). To be eligible for any of
these positions, you need to have concluded your degree before the starting
date. For the PostDoc position, the candidate should have obtained the
Ph.D. no more than 3 years ago (exceptions are possible for, e.g., parental
leave, illness, etc.). Good written and spoken English skills are mandatory
for both positions.

*Desirable*:  It is desirable for the candidate to have experience in at
least one of the fields of Information Visualization or Artificial
Intelligence.

*Salary*: monthly salary of 28000 SEK (Swedish krona – approximately 2600
dollars) for the Ph.D. position and for PostDoc around 38000 SEK
(approximately 3600 dollars), all before taxes. For the Ph.D. position, the
salary can be readjusted after two and a half years, and the duration of
the Ph.D. program is a minimum of 4 years (renewable for one extra year).
For the PostDoc position, the salary can be readjusted yearly, and the
duration is of 2 years (renewable for one extra year).  Ph.D. and PostDoc
positions are considered formal jobs in Sweden, with all the usual employee
rights such as Holidays, paid sick leave of absence, access to unions, etc.

*Supervision*: The chosen candidates will be supervised/advised by a team
composed of Amilcar Soares (https://lnu.se/en/staff/amilcar.soaresjunior),

*Location*: The chosen candidate will have to be located in person at the
Linnaeus University (LNU) campus in Växjö, Sweden. See more information

The expected start is for the Summer of 2024 or negotiable.
