Clemson University invites applications for a postdoctoral position
from candidates with expertise in the areas of geographic information
systems, data visualization, or data analytics.

Applicants should be interested in applying computing to individual,
organizational, and social questions of interest to society and
governments. The post-doctoral researcher will have opportunities to
conduct innovative research that resides at the intersection of new
forms of data (e.g., social, mobile etc.), high performance computing
(e.g., cluster computing), and visualization (e.g., scientific and
information visualization, mapping, etc.). The applicant should have,
or be scheduled to soon complete, a Ph.D. in Computer Science,
Information Science, Geography, Information Systems, HCI or a related
field by the time the employment starts.

Previous experience in geographic information systems, programming
languages or database development will make applicants more
competitive as well.

Duties and responsibilities will include planning and conduct of
funded research projects, field studies and laboratory experiments
addressing emerging issues in visualization and data analytics;
writing and presenting research at scientific conferences and in
academic journals; supervising graduate and undergraduate research
students.

This is a full time, 12-month, non-tenure position, with renewal
dependent upon performance and funds availability. The position is in
the Social Analytics Institute in the College of Business and
Behavioral Science at the Clemson University. The researcher will also
work with the CyberInfrastructure Technology Integration (CITI) groups
in Clemson Computing and Information Technology.
