engage in a broad range of activities that involve data to achieve their goals in work, social, and personal contexts. Yet despite the huge potential in facilitating human-data interaction for more effective, productive, and rewarding experiences, current
visualization research focuses on limited aspects of how people interact with data. The emerging area of </span><i><span style="color:black">human-data interaction (HDI)</span></i><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"> encompasses all aspects
where humans touch and engage with data, widening the scope beyond traditional visualization and visual analytics to consider the breadth of how people think with and use data. It also expands the focus on data experts to a wider range of users with varying
levels of data and visualization literacy. We need to rethink existing HDI scenarios, envision new scenarios, and to explore ways to support this diversity of users, which in turn brings new challenges and opportunities to visualization and visual analytics
