The whole TEASys Team from Annotating Literature at the University of Tübingen wishes you a merry Christmas and happy and healthy New Year 2023!<br>
We are looking back on a year in which working with annotations has once again enlightened not only us, the team, but many of our students, helping them to engage more and more intensively with literary texts. An increasing number of students are interested in explaining and understanding literature through annotations by giving definitions and contextual information, referring to relevant research, and offering interpretations across our three active groups. We are looking forward to welcoming new students in the project next year and having as inspiring exchanges with other interested researchers as we have had this year.<br>

<span style="color:#0000ff;"><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Calls for Papers</strong></span></span><br>

You may want to propose a paper for the 10<sup>th</sup> edition of the <a href="https://2023.dhbenelux.org/">DH Benelux Conference</a> that will take place in Belgium, at the Royal Library of Belgium from May 31 – June 2, 2023. The conference serves for interdisciplinary researchers of the Digital Humanities to meet, present and discuss their latest research findings and to demonstrate tools and projects. The upcoming conference is on ‘Crossing Borders: digital humanities research across languages and modalities’ and invites papers from researcher at all career stages. You can submit your abstract <strong>until January 31, 2023</strong>. More information on topics and modalities can be found <a href="https://2023.dhbenelux.org/call-for-papers/">here</a>.<br>

The annual, international conference series on computational linguistics KONVENS will take place at the TH Ingolstadt, Germany, on September 18-22, 2023 and invites researchers to submit abstracts discussing the interaction of language technology and its users, including the application of speech, and text technology in various settings (e.g., dialogue processing, mobility, medicine, e-commerce, or digital humanities). Submissions may either be long or short papers that will be archived in the ACL Anthology or ongoing works and theses which will not be archived. If you consider contributing, feel free to read up on the details <a href="https://www.thi.de/konvens-2023/calls/">here</a>. <strong>Submission deadline is May 19, 2023</strong>.<br>

The International interdisciplinary conference “Games & Literature. On the literaricity, research, collection, and archiving of computer games” at the German Literature Archive Marbach (DLA) will take place from <strong>June 28-30, 2023</strong>. It will be hosted in cooperation with the European Federation of Game Archives, Museums and Preservation Projects (EFGAMP e.V.), DIGAREC - Digital Games Research Center of the University of Potsdam, the Computer Games Museum Berlin, and the Foundation for Digital Games Culture. The keynote speakers are Espen Aarseth, Réne Bauer, Astrid Ensslin and Beat Suter. Lena Falkenhagen will moderate the Game Culture Quartet (organized by the Foundation for Digital Games Culture) at the DLA Marbach.<br>

The project “Network epistemology in practice (NEPI)” lead by Adrian Wüthrich (Technische Universität Berlin) is offering a position <strong>as postdoctoral researcher</strong> in history and philosophy of science with special expertise in computational methods and digital humanities. Another position as <strong>research assistant</strong> (13 TV-L) is open at the new Digital Humanities chair at the Universität Vechta, Germany. Your research could either lead to the completion of a PhD or a postdoctoral qualification with a topic of your choice in the field of Digital Humanities in the cultural sciences. Iowa State University is hiring a <strong>full-time Head of Digital Scholarship & Initiatives</strong> (pay grade PS810), who will be responsible for providing direction and vision for the department, developing strategic planning, and providing support for staff and programs to flourish. To increase the proportion of female staff, the University of Vechta is encouraging especially women to apply as <strong>graduate research assistant</strong> in computer linguistics and digital humanities (13 TV-L). The position is connected to the Chair of Digital Humanities (Professor Malte Rehbein) and strives to establish a centre for methodological basic research. You can now apply for two open, four-year <strong>PhD positions</strong> in Digital Humanities and Natural Language Processing at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. Both positions are bound to the research project “Graphs and Ontologies for Literary Evolution Models” (GOLEM), financed by an ERC Starting Grant and coordinated by the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr Federico Pianzola. The dissertation will be on linguistic and aesthetic changes over time in online <strong>fanfiction</strong> and comprises interdisciplinary and international research.
