        <p><span

            lang="EN">University College Cork seeks to recruit a
            Professor of Grassland Science within the School of
            Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (School of
            BEES) to provide strong research and academic leadership.
             The successful candidate will optimise Ireland’s
            competitive advantage in animal production, and support
            ambitious targets for agriculture, food and exports, through
            innovative approaches to sustainable production, utilisation
            of grazed grass and management of grass-based ecosystems.
             Many of these ambitions are outlined in the Governments
            ambitious plan for sustainable growth in the Agri/Food
            Sector – FoodHarvest 2020

             Research experience in the area of grass genetics/genomics,
            grass breeding and research into sustainable grassland
            management would be a particular advantage.  It is
            anticipated that the Professor of Grassland Science will
            lead an innovative research programme in the School and
            provide a leadership role in the development of relevant new
            courses.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
        <p><span
style="font-size:9.5pt;font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black"
            lang="EN">The successful candidate will be expected to have
            a PhD in plant science or a relevant area and demonstrate a
            proven commitment to leadership and excellence in teaching
            and research as evidenced by a scholarly reputation of
            international standing.  S/he is expected to have a strong
            track record of sustained peer-reviewed publications,
            patents etc. and will have a record of fostering a culture
            of teaching and research excellence. It is expected that the
            candidate will also have considerable experience of leading
            large-scale research programmes. S/he is expected to take a
            leadership role in the School.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
