This is an exciting opportunity for a highly
motivated and skilled
bioinformatician/computational biologist to join a
BBSRC funded project answering fundamental
questions on eukaryotic transcription. We
encourage applications from scientists with strong
computational or data analysis skills obtained in
a different discipline (e.g. Physics/Chemistry)
who are keen to transfer their talents to the
challenges of biological research.</p>

The project builds on the highly successful
interdisciplinary collaboration between the
bioinformatics research group of Prof. Geoff
Barton and the molecular biology group of Prof.
Gordon Simpson. It will exploit massively parallel
“Next Generation Sequencing” (NGS) to dissect the
mechanisms controlling transcription termination
and how it can be regulated. The project will
integrate existing, unique datasets with the
sequencing of the nascent transcriptome. The
results of the bioinformatics will influence the
design and interpretation of future transcriptome
studies.</p>

level intellectual curiosity and willingness to
