<pre>Receptor-like kinase palmitoylation: resolving a crucial feature of plant cell signalling

Project overview
Palmitoylation is a highly important yet poorly understood lipid based post-translational modification of proteins. We recently discovered that the Receptor-like kinase (RLK) superfamily is one of the major groups of palmitoylated protein in plants and have subsequently demonstrated that changes in palmitoylation state are a crucial regulatory mechanism governing RLK signalling. The aims of this project are to uncover how palmitoylation regulates RLK function, with particular focus on RLKs involved in plant innate immunity.
